Urgent Advice Needed – Lost my passport but i have some scan copies...

Hi all.

Unfortunately, I lost my passport today, and my 90-day Non-B visa is set to expire on March 23, 2025. I arrived in Bangkok on January 8, 2025, and my company is planning to extend my visa to a one-year work permit.

Could you please advise me on the necessary steps to take? Specifically:

Can I still extend my visa under these circumstances, or will I need to apply for a new one?

Are there any urgent actions I need to take before my current visa expires?

I appreciate your guidance and look forward to your advice.

Best regards,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has lost their passport while in Thailand, with their 90-day Non-B visa expiring on March 23, 2025. They are seeking guidance on how to proceed with extending their visa under these circumstances. Community responses advise the user to file a police report immediately and go to their embassy for an emergency passport. They should not attempt to extend their visa without a valid passport, as this is essential for immigration processes. It is recommended to avoid overstaying to prevent fines.

You need get emergency passport from Embassy and go home or pay the fine per day

I have my phone number in my password. I have my phone number with my phone. I have my phone number on my keys. May be too late for this but might be a good thing to do for everybody

first thing to do is apply for a new passport, should not take that long especially if you expedite it

I would definitely do a police report, just in case someone finds your passport & tries to use it somehow. Because your expiration date is next week, go to your embassy & get an emergency passport & go home. Then get a new one & start the visa process over again.

In the future, always make copies of your passport, showing all visas & extension stamps. If you ever lose your passport again & you’re not at your visa expiration point, it’s a simple matter to have Thai immigration transfer your visa & extension(s) to your new one, provided you show them both a copy of your old one & a police report.

OBE. Since your visa expiration date is next week, my second paragraph above is just advice for “next time,” though I’m sure you don’t think there’ll be a next time.

Goto your embassy, explain, pay, sorted

No passport, no extension. Where would they put the extension?

You need to make a police report, take that to your embassy to get a new passport or an emergency passport. You need to find out if your country issues full emergency passports or only "return home" emergency passports because you cannot get an extension in the 2nd kind.

Then once you have a new passport you take that to immigration along with the police report to get the extension. If that process takes you over March 23rd then you'll also have to pay 500 baht per day overstay and receive an overstay stamp in your passport.
