Anyone get asked for a hired amount than needed for their DTV visa? Washington DC has asked for a bank statement with 550,000 thai baht (16k usd)

I fly to Bali next week and was trying to get this visa approved before leaving. Due to my pay schedule, I can't increase the savings account until after I'm in bali to accurately reflect the amount they want.

Should I just go to Jakarta while in Bali and apply there, or are they asking for the 550,000 thai baht rather than the 500,000 thai baht.

Here is some strong indicator of what I have been preaching over and over again: The LTR Visa - great as it is - is a failure in its current form!

It was set out a attract 1 MILLION highly sought after candidates - but a mere 4457 applications have only been achieved in total.

Especially the "Work from Thailand" category is a total misalignment of requirements and realities. Especially the requirement to be an employee of only a big or publicly listed company is just too far off the realities of many remote workers that would otherwise easily meet the rest of the requirements. Why oh why would they even care of I make my high income that I am willing to spend in Thailand from direct employment income of a listed corporation - or as owner of my own medium sized (consulting) business?

Meanwhile, a DTV Destination Thailand Visa was announced - but as so often not followed through. OK: Rant over. Have a great day, everyone. :-)

Setting up to renew O visa etc. Its harder to renew then just start all over it seems. Seems impossible to proof income when your own Embassy is worthless. Deposit over 65000 baht each month but it doesnt matter. All those politicians we get disgusted with, well they are everywhere. Im going back to being a visitor only. Three month's then gone! They hate farangs, then so be it. Costa Ric, Combodia, Phillipines, Uraguay, Panama, Belize...see you soon.

Hey everyone! me and my wife are Taiwanese citizens, and we would love to move to Thailand and live, eventually the Elite visa is the best option, but at this point, I have a contract with a startup indie video game studio, we are developing a fighting game. I'm a sound designer and composer, my salary is between 60-80k USD a year. What kind of visa can I apply to work and live in Thailand? I was thinking on the SMART T visa, which it seems that aligns with my income, but the problem is the industry, I don't know if Video games are in the technological or digital industry in Thailand. Also the studio hasn't actually sent me to Thailand to work, I work remotely from Taiwan, since I just do sounds and music.

What do you guys think?

Definitely an "everything else" item. Maybe save purely speculative answers, wondering if anyone has actually dealt with a problem like this. Bought a motorbike in Patong from a dealership. There was a literal year of drama and hassle to get the green book (just them not having their shit together and then my situation turned complicated and they still did not have shit together) and the green book finally arrived and my name is misspelled.

I guess I'll start with contacting them, but I live on the opposite side of the country now and it was a painful year trying to get them to deal with it the first time... Next maybe go into the transpo office here and beg for mercy?

Update....I posted last week on our enquiry of moving from retirement visa to a non b visa.

After visit to Rayong Immigration the answer was that the person must return to home country and apply for a non b there. Then return to Thailand to join us as a teacher.

Obviously totally impractical and far too expensive with flights quarantine etc.

Shame about this as finding teachers has become a relatively impossible task now in Thailand. I am sure there are many retired expats who would be willing to help teach English but cannot do so on retirement visas ....

Thanks Tod Daniels for your advice in my original post.....

Just wondered if anybody is in the same situation as myself. My wife is thai and I dont meet the criteria to get her to the UK, yet I can't find work in Thailand apart from teaching english, which certainly isn't something I'm any good at as I did an English course one Saturday at the school my wife teaches at and absolutely hated it..

If anybody is in the same situation how do you cope??

Got into trouble with 1 year extension of Non-immigrant ED (me) & O (wife&children) because we didn’t have the original of Beth & marriage certificate (& which we didn’t need to get the original visa!); might not get them in time before the visa expires next Tuesday. Any advice?
