I am flying to Siem Reap next month but only really want to be there for a few hours. Is it possible to return the same day with a new 30 day exemption for thailand? Or do they require an overnight stay. It would only be my second 30 day in 12 months

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of returning to Thailand on the same day after a brief trip to Siem Reap depends on the immigration rules in place. Some commenters noted that airlines may enforce an overnight stay requirement for flights from Thailand to Siem Reap, and travelers might be asked to provide proof of accommodation and onward travel. While it's technically possible to return the same day, the consensus is that travelers should verify current airline and immigration policies before making arrangements.
Try booking a same day return flight DMK-REP on Air Asia, it says "Guests travelling to Siem Reap are required to stay at least one (1) night in Siem Reap".
Better to check you can go same-day trip to Siem Reap. There is (was) over-night stay policy in Siem Reap a while ago...At least nearly a couple of years ago, airlines didn't let me purchase same-day return trip because of that rules (or I don't know what is right word).
