Hi folks! How are you? I would have a rather specific question for you, please (bottoms up your pina colada before venturing any further would be my suggestion) :
I'm sure it's going to feel as good a breeze of renewal as it feels for me, but hey, I want to work remotely as a digital nomad (self-employed, offering counselling services online, not working for any company) in Thailand.
I have not started my business yet and spent the last many months travelling, so my only asset is savings, a bit of education and a plan. I have the proper education/diploma and realistic funds, above the minimum required to have to apply for DTV in my country.
Did anybody in a similar situation (only having a proper budget, education and business plan to show the Ambassy) apply for DTV among this group?
If so, did you miserably fail or whimsically succeed? Also, may you share any of the following with me, please? Suggestions, fair concerns, comments on what went wrong or could have been done better, gibe, what were the extra admin steps to achieve this goal, murder*us looks, etc., please?
Thanks a whole bunch for reading the words of this lost lamb. May the good vibes of travels chase you whenever, wherever (we're meant to be together) you go. :)
I'm going to try DTV as a self employed person. I am a mental health therapist and my clients are mainly in France. But during my trip here (3 months), I had several requests for consultations from French and other nationalities, expatriates and travelers. So my question is: does the DTV allow me to work with clients of any nationality except Thai? Or am I not allowed to work with anyone within Thailand?
How are people who are self employed applying for the DTV? I have proof of income, and i have an accountant. I trade a a sole trader. I am a one man band, so how can i prove this in the evidence? It's all freelance website work. Uk resident .Thanks in advance.
The Thai Embassy has returned with a request for more information:
A letter explaining how I will work remotely while in Thailand?
Does this mean I just need to make an "official" letter myself. Explaining I will work out of a co-working space from my laptop? Any more details needed?
Me and my significant other aim to move to Thailand in a few months. We make music full time which makes around 7k a month gross, though we are considering doing a soft power (we don't officially run a registered business, very DIY). We have always shared funds from my account. Since we are self employed and share funds, what is the best course of action for obtaining a DTV for both of us?
We have the 500k baht each and make a good amount to our (my) main account, so not really a money issue - maybe just in the wrong places. Is there a monthly requirement for how much she should be making a month? What are the exact requirements for a soft power as far as income and documentation? Should we apply in the USA beforehand or try from Vietnam like many have suggested?
I'm mainly just looking for overall advice to our unique situation, and a general best course of action. Any advice is appreciated.
I am preparing my documents for my application & I see that a letter from your registered company is recommended. But what if you are self employed as a sole proprietor?
Does anyone have experience as a “digital nomad” working for themselves (private practice therapist) using the DTV? It looks like one of the requirements is working for a big company which I don’t.
Hello, I’m looking to apply for the DTV visa (UK passport holder) I’ve only recently gone self employed so don’t have a tax return yet, has anyone had success in this visa without a tax return? Thank you in advance !
