I own my own business and do trading I don't have clients. Should I just write a letter as my company explaining this? The financial part is easy just not sure what documents I should provide since I work for myself. Not sure if anyone that's been approved has used their own online business yet or not. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual seeking a DTV visa in Thailand, who owns a trading business without clients, is uncertain about the documentation required for their application. The conversation suggests that a letter of explanation, tax returns (like Schedule C), and business registration documents may suffice. It's emphasized that working remotely for clients based in Thailand is not permitted. Responses indicate that requirements may vary by embassy, and it's advisable to reach out to them directly for specific guidance. Users also discuss the definition of self-employment and whether it qualifies as a legitimate business.

Sounds like you dont have a ‘business’.

If I cut my own grass at home, could I be classed as a business gardener?

I have an llc along with business bank account I just don't have/need website, storefront etc taxes are paid. So yes it's a business.

you have an online business and you can work anywhere online. I do not see any reason why you cannot get the DTV. However, embassies decide if you get it or not. Prepare papers: your LLC, tax reports, etc. What is your only risk? You might lose 10.000 baht if they don't accept your DTV application.

Every country or ambassy does it different. I am from the Netherlands. Needed to sent in my and from the client business registration. Contract between me and the client. Signed letter from the client that i am allowed to work remote
Lynnette *******
Just remember you can't do any of this remote work for anyone IN Thailand.

I dont/won't it would make no sense to do what I do for someone else lol

I thought they just didn't want jobs taken away from Thai people. And how would anybody know?

@Eric *****
people lying about the use of the DTV will eventually get spotted and might end up affecting it for people, in the future.

A letter of explanation along with a tax return will probably work but it will be up to the embassy

Looks like you're American. Just provide them schedule C from your 2023 tax returns.

Havent u asked the same question or similar like 5 times in 3 different groups? Best advice is to probably contact the embassy you are applying via.
Myles *******
Apologies. Someone posted similar in 3-4 groups. Best advice is still contact embassy u want to apply at

Or you could check the answers that guy got, maybe someone was helpful to him and it would apply to you also. Good luck with it.

for to the top and click on the group name. A search box or magnifying glass should appear. Just search for the same question you had and it should pull his post up.

what? Tf is wrong with ppl in this group lol asking if someone who works for themselves has done it. Pretty simple.

@Caesar ********
no youre not youre asking what documents they require which will be different for most people and each embassy! Go ahead and listen to someone else’s guess on what u might need at a specific embassy if u want! Do u not think it would be best to get straight from the horses mouth?

@Myles ******
ok fair, just figured I'd ask someone who had been approved.
Myles *******
@Caesar ********
each embassy is asking different things though so maybe totally irrelevant anyway
John *******
@Myles ******
this page is all about “visa advice”. However, according to you, no one should ask for advice and just contact the embassy. Thanks for the help
Myles *******
@John ******
when did I say nobody should ask for advice? Loads of good advice given here and havd asked myself but nobody will give a definitive answer to the OP as nobody knows where they are applying
John *******
@Myles ******
so maybe ask “where are you applying”?
Myles *******
@John ******
what good would that do? I dont know the requirements from each embassy and nor does anyone else on here
John *******
@Myles ******
then someone who has gone through that embassy can supply feedback, if they have it
Myles *******
@John ******
youre missing the point. Each case is different and what they ask from someone who is employed will be different to someone who is a self-employed trader like the OP. Or do u think hundreds of traders have applied and received from each embassy already?
Myles *******
@John ******
regarding this visa nobody knows all the answers as each embassy is different. Did u offer any advice at all?
