Open a company, Thai partner applies for Work Permit and with company papers you apply for the Non Immigrant B visa. That is the only way you can work official in Thailand. No office, premises or I do not need employees is nice for you, but not according Thai law.

It's simple f his hired by a company they will take care of all the paperwork for the visa and work permit.If his as also mentioned wanted to do This as a pure freelance then it's the company set up and more or less rent him self out as a consultant through his company

If a company hire you with agreement that when ever we need your services we call you and you will serve ( for any consultancy firm.)
But company actually booking orders for you and refer clients to you. Fee collection work from that company. In this condition you need work permit but not to register company.
And if you do own all then need company create.

.You are rendering services and earning money as a part time work, work hours you are deciding only. It's called freelancer. As I understand.
So when you serve and earn, it's Job, work or business.
If you not earn then volunteer.
So apply appropriate visa.

Unfortunately that's the onto way to go around it but you can do with two employees and not four but that would change the visa you would be able to get with this layout we all suffering under this rules but this the o to legally way to do itPeter *******
ORIGINAL POSTERThanks Zabel. Certain companies may be interested but I am thinking more of assisting individuals who would require help with complex/ technical advice. I’m not sure how this would be treated under Thai immigration law - I guess a Limited Company would enable a work permit & then just invoice clients. Problem is I don’t need to four employees etc. that goes with such a set up. Looking for the cleanest, legal route.

To clarify what I mean by that is as a freelance you will need to have your own company so you can sign a contract with each company you work with as an consultant when you do work for them either that or they will have to hire you on full time and take care of all the paperwork for you and work permit
