Hi, my boyfriend and I are US citizens who plan on doing a multi-entry tourist visa to be able to stay in Thailand for six months. It says one of the requirements is proof of employment...
I have been freelancing the past few months since leaving my full-time job. I didn't start an LLC yet because I don't plan to work in Thailand. In fact this is my last month of working before we leave in December. My boyfriend is also planning to leave his job right before we go to Thailand to relax and travel.
I'm curious if any other freelancers or unemployed people have gotten around this proof of employment requirement? Do I really need to set up an LLC to prove "self employment" or is there a way to apply for this visa as an unemployed person?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on obtaining a multi-entry tourist visa (METV) to Thailand without traditional proof of employment, as both she and her boyfriend plan to leave their jobs prior to traveling. They question the necessity of establishing an LLC for demonstrating self-employment and inquire if others have successfully navigated this requirement while being freelancers or unemployed. Community members share their experiences and suggest that it might be possible to apply without a certified employment letter, and they note the ease of their own visa applications despite lacking conventional proof.
I just got my 6 month METV from the consulate in NYC....super easy, just an address, bank statement print out, return plane ticket and the form filled out, $200...turned it in on a Monday and received it on a Tuesday...super easy no lines to wait in
I don't know what constitutes a "certified" letter. But I know people who've gotten an METV by just writing the letter themselves on their own letterhead.
