Hi I wanted to ask a question about applying for the DTV at HCMC embassy. I am a self-employed online freelancer making music. I have the needed funds in a checking account and I have a portfolio showing many clients, invoices and contracts and detailing exactly what I do.
My only worry is that I do not have a company set up and I do not have 6 months of payslips. Although this isn't officially required for the visa is seems like everyone is being asked for these documents, is there any chance of approval without them and if not, is there any nearby country/embassy that I can apply from without them?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about applying for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) at the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) embassy. They are a self-employed online freelancer with the necessary funds and portfolio but lack a formal company setup and the requested six months of payslips. The response from the community varied, with some advising against applying in HCMC due to issues with documentation requests, while others assured that approval is possible without payslips if proper documentation of freelance work is provided.
my advice is don’t apply at hcmc. do hanoi instead. currently have a pending application after they requested support documents with conflicting information and zero response through email or line when asking for clarification to be sure. also there’s a few others that have had issues with hcmc. beware and good luck!
I was approved without payslips. You can include a note explaining why. You don't need a company to work freelance. Just show your contracts of work and payments received.
Anonymous participant Taipei in Dec applied as a freelancer. You are a freelancer not company owner so do not need company registration. You can find similar applicants approved in Vietnam.
Ok I just worry they are more strict now as I'm reading that a lot of people that apply in HCMC are getting business certificate and 6 months of payslips demanded from them after applying and I don't want to waste an application when I could have gone the soft power route
Anonymous participant Yeah, Vietnam is more strict for SP and workcation. For Workcation it is best to show business registration of a company you work for.
