Hi, my OA visa will expire (2nd year) whilst I am in the UK. I will get another one whilst I'm there, do I need to get a new Police check and Doctors certificate? Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone, I would really appreciate some clarity...

I have accepted a job at an International school in Chiang Mai starting August 1st. I currently live in Hong Kong and the visa process here takes a long time (police check wait time is 2 plus months) I'm not sure I'd be able to make it to Thailand by August 1st.

Can I go to Chiang Mai mid July on a tourist visa and have it converted to a non B visa? If so, how long is the approval time and would a Thai police check be sufficient?

A couple of questions regarding the non immigrant O-A Visa , if anyone has recently applied ( Australian passport holder ) , is the police check Frderal or State and can the Medical certificate be issued by a local GP , also if you have 800,000 Baht that should be fine right ? , any info would be much appreciated.

This is more an "away from Thailand visa" advice ... I need a police check for potential new jobs. How to get one without a letter of request from a specific employer? My current school won't give me one, because then the letter goes direct to the school, so ...?? Police website info contradicts my experience last year when I did it for visa renewal, so I don't know what's up there.

Hi, Im planning on retiring in Thailand, i've lived / worked there before so just a few questions.

Is it better to apply for the retirement (non imm O) visa before I come or just come on a 60day Tourist visa and progress from there? Only ask as I noticed that if I apply from home (uk) you need to show £10,000 in bank for 3 months before (I have it, but need to do some transferring) is that necessary if I do it in thailand? Also I see you need a notorised certificate of health, try getting that in uk - no way. Its not possible to just go to a docs and get a bespoke certificate covering the thai medical requiremts - had anyone done that or got A/O from the UK? Was it easy, what did you do about med check and Police check?

Also I noticed that Bangkok Bank require proof of address in home country and thailand - so i just use my old address or some mates address in uk? Im guessing its just paperwork and not so importsnt to give uk address (Im selling so wont have a uk address).

Also they may want a reference letter from my bank via WISE, what is that exactly? I guess the ref. letter from the embassy in thailand is the best / easiest option for that but just seen they dont do those any more for us/uk?

Also it says they (bank) need addresses not from hotels, so its important to get an appartment pretty quickly right? Might be more difficult as i'll still be on Tourist Visa?

Also, is the Wise tranfer a simple process as i'll be going the 800k bhat in bank route...

Any other advice welcome, but if ur gonna troll or flame please at least make it funny as I prefer some thought in the trolling!

Thx my dear estemed peers.

G’day everyone, a friend of mine is hoping to retire and live in Thailand next year. He was convicted of a crime in the UK approx 30 years ago and since his release has a clean slate. Will this cause a problem when applying for a retirement visa? Thank you in advance

Planning on a short trip to meet up with my thai partner for only a few weeks then return to uk. My plan is to apply early next year for a retirement visa!

Should I apply for a tourist visa initially and apply for a bank account during my stay in preparation.

Or

Start the process of applying for a retirement visa. (From the uk?)

Single entry but then would need to get a re-entry permit before leaving.

Or Multi-entry?

I have the available funds but would need a health check and police check which from previous posts it sounds easier to apply for in Thailand.

Any advice welcome!

I have looked to see if this question is answered elsewhere on this site. Forgive me if I've missed it. I am on a Non-OA obtained last March from the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra. My current stamp allows me to stay until January 2021. However, I am going back to Aus for 3 weeks at the end of April and plan to apply for a new visa then. One of the requirements is the provision of a police check. What I am wondering is if a new police check from Australia will suffice or if I need to get a Thai police check. If it's the latter, can someone give me an idea of how to get one. I am in Chiang Rai.
