Hi folks - thinking about retirement or DTV. I have enough money, question being about police check and spent minor convictions (for DTV) I got an ‘absolute discharged’ for my kid not attending school enough … lol back in 2016)

Question is - what info appears on UK police clearance certificate to submit with DTV application ?

Do minor ‘spent’ convictions appear on the Certificate) - has anyone been thru process /similar scenario for minor convictions 10 years back ?…. Thanks
Answer summary
The conversation addresses concerns about whether minor spent convictions are revealed on a UK police clearance certificate needed for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) application. Community members clarify that for a Basic CRB check, which is commonly required, spent convictions typically do not appear. They emphasize that an Absolute Discharge does not impact the police record. Additionally, it is mentioned that a Non-O retirement visa doesn't require a police check, providing an alternative route without such concerns.

Depends on whether they want an 'Enhanced' or 'Basic' CRB Check. Spent convictions won't show on a 'Basic' check. Do they even know the difference? Not sure.

Won't affect any visa application

I think, like me, you might have had a civil offence rather than a criminal offence, and that's clear on a police certificate.

Still, if you're in the UK, why not check at your local cop shop?

Absolute discharge is not recorded on your record.

Non-O would be the way to go as you cannot open a bank account here on a DTV. You can still work remotely and you won’t need a police check. You apply in your home country.

@ Non O doesn't require a police check. What eVisa are you applying for?

Non-O ( for retirement) doesn't require police check. It's valid 90 days to allow you to open bank account, deposit funds, and then get a 12 month extension once money seasoned.
