I submitted my application on 1/10 and approved 8/10. This group was super helpful so thank you to all people that commented on my posts to make the process easier.

I thought I would share my experience for anyone who are business owners with multi-layer company structures across international borders.

I am a new property business owner, I own houses for rental and also buy houses to flip in USA. I am a UK citizen so my company structure is layered. The importance was showing the link of my personal name, that owns the UK/Irish companies. Then demonstrate the link of the UK/Irish companies that sit within the USA LLC that own the properties.

I am also a chartered surveyor and an examiner for the RICS (Chartered Institution).

I submitted the following to the London embassy:

1. Covering letter explaining my business and professional profile

2. Link to RICS website showing my RICS profile

3. RICS SLA agreement for being an examiner

4. Company Registration of UK/Irish/USA companies

5. Operating agreement of USA company (showing my UK/Irish company member listing

6. Title ownership documents of 3nr properties

7. Bank statements from all business accounts and personal bank account. Business ones just showed balance, personal showed 3 months which evidenced money coming in from business accounts.

7 days to approve, no additional documents requested. No interview, no flight tickets, no rental contract and no TM30. However I would recommend submitting these as I’ve noticed this has been asked for other applications.

This was a complex application so a little nervous it wouldn’t be approved with my companies only being a few months old. My business accounts have a very high level of money in them to purchase properties so that may have contributed to the easier approval.

Anyway thought I’d share my experience in case anyone submitting are company owners with complex structures!

I'm currently in Thailand but back in the UK for 2 weeks in October and wish to apply for a DTV (I'm a UK citizen) - just trying to get my ducks in a row 🦆🦆🦆

Will a monzo statement be OK? Does the money have to be in your regular account or will a savings pot be ok? If I submit my paperwork before hand - will the 2 weeks be sufficient? Also, still undecided on whether to do the soft power or remote work option. I'm doing muay Thai anyway and can get a sponsered letter and can work remotely with a contract if needed- what's a better option for success? Thanks for any support. 🇹🇭🙏

I am wondering if anyone has had recent experience with a civil partnership / same-sex marriage registration process in Thailand? If so, I really would appreciate some help with the paperwork process/ requirements. i am a UK citizen, and I know I will need a Marital Status Affiramation, however, when i go to apply on the ukgov site for this, it still says that civil partnerships are not recognised in Thailand, so i have hit a wall before i even start .... any advice/expereince?

Hi folks, I am a UK Citizen and have lived in Bangkok for over a year. I am having a lot of trouble getting my 'DWP Proof of Life certificate' signed.

So far I have tried the police station, my bank, my pharmacist and even the Tax Office where I pay my taxes, but no one wants to sign it for me.

It doesn't help that it is written in English and the people I have asked are unable to read it.

I have translated it to Thai via Google App Translator, but that does not seem to have helped any.

They have all told me that they are afraid to sign it in case they get into trouble.

It would really be helpful if we could just take it to the British Embassy, but I have heard that they would not sign it for me.

Any assistance or advice anyone could give me would truly be appreciated

Question:

UK citizen here, full-time employee wanting DTV1 Workcation visa to work for 1 month. What specific documentation is needed for the "Foreign Employment Contract", I've heard that they sometimes ask for follow up documents showing "permission to work remotely for X period of time". I'm a full-time remote employee but my contract doesn't specifically say so, will I be ok?

I don't want to pay the £300 visa fee only to find I don't have the right conditions.

---

Further Context:

My company will allow me to work 1 month at a time abroad provided I have work-permission. They also won't provide any extra documentation/ proof for the 1 month abroad. So I can't get a nice fancy document that helps me get the visa.

So, if I can't get the visa with what I've got, Thailand is off the cards and I'll have to go somewhere else for that 1 month. But my family (partner + toddler) and I would really like Thailand.

I haven't managed to get in touch with the London Thai Embassy (3 emails & 10+ phone calls) so I'm hoping you will be able to help.

Thanks!!! 🙏

Does anyone know the process for changing your last name in Thailand (UK citizen). Been married to my Thai husband for a couple of years, I need to renew my passport soon anyway so would like to take his name. Is it possible to do in Thailand and is it complicated with visa/ work permit being in my maiden name? Or is it too much hassle/ best to do when I next go to the UK?

I have a young person under my care from the UK who has had her passport stolen, the photo page ripped out, then anonymously returned. A new passport has been applied for but the issue comes with the thai visa.

She entered with a Non-O volunteer visa which must be extended to the full year this December. As she has a damaged passport, this cannot be done. Immigration have said they will not give her a temporary extension until the new passport arrives, and said she must pay the 500b overstay fine every day until her passport arrives. The passport will take around 4-6 weeks making this fine extremely high.

Anyone have any suggestions on what we could ask immigration to encourage them to take pity on her and provide a temporary extension to avoid having to pay the fine? Also, she can’t leave the country to wait it out as she has no ID to travel and needs to be here to collect the new passport in person anyway.

Complicated i know!

I live in Thailand.

I have a Uk passport that is going to expire in November 2024. My retirement visa renewal is in October each year. My question is how do I keep my visa in my passport and receive a new passport? As I have to submit my old passport when renewing it?
