TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if they can apply for a long stay visa in Thailand directly after selling their house in the UK, considering they have a wife and property in Thailand. Comments suggest options for applying either in the UK or Thailand, emphasizing that visa applications from the UK are generally quicker. Additionally, suggestions include entering Thailand on a visa exemption and applying for a NON-O or marriage visa, along with the necessary banking requirements.

best to have independent visa. Your stay should never be contingent on someone else....other than an IO.

I’ve read that applying from home country is best for retirement visa

Get your visa in the Uk, only takes 2-3 days. So much easier than getting it in Thailand

If you just want to leave fast, I guess you know you can enter on a 30 days visa exemption, extend with the regular 30 days first and then another 60 days visiting thai family at your local immigration. You’ll then be stamped in for 120 days in total first, but you might need an agent to help you with opening a bank account if you don’t have any to bank the needed amount for apply for a 90 days Non O in country and your extension of stay.

Many Immigration offices only give one extention, ie the 60, not both.

You can get a Non-O Visa (marriage or retirement) inside Thailand but you need a Thai bank account with the required funds to apply if your Embassy does not do the income affadavit

You can do either one. Though London is known to issues visas very quickly, but they're probably on extended holiday right now due to Songkran.
