Hi!

I’ve been doing some research on a SIM card.

I have been looking at this with the AIS social sim for 50B… am I right to assume with these terms and conditions that I will get unlimited Internet for 50B for 30 days?

I am really wanting just a sim for Internet. Max 200B a month but everywhere I go, they want to sell me a tourist sim. I am here for 2/3 months.

I read through the previous posts of going to 7/11 but I’m on Koh Phangan and they only have “true” that I’ve seen.

I just wanna be able to go into a shop and say “I want this..” 😅

Any information and step by step guidelines for dummies would be really appreciated 🙌

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about getting a SIM card for internet use in Thailand, specifically asking if the AIS social sim would provide unlimited internet for 50 baht over 30 days. Comments indicate that the 50 baht plan may not provide adequate internet access, suggesting alternatives like True and AIS packages that offer better data options. The conversation emphasizes the importance of checking available packages, topping up, and advises visiting local shops for more options rather than relying solely on 7-Eleven.

My AIS unlimited data for 30 days is THB 200. I got it from CentralWorld's AIS store in BKK and then add 30 days when needed from any other AIS shop.

You can use free wifi all over the island

AIS The One SIM card is what you need, ask about it in an AIS shop, unlimited internet

The tourist sim is a fair deal. Get one with plenty of data. Wifi here is extremely inconvenient to use. Kicks you out if you font make a keystroke for a moment, wont save logon info so you have to reentry passport number etc. Hotel wifi often useless too, so you want to tether your laptop. I did get 70 gb good for 1 year from AIS for my extra phone, but its slow.

Just get true unlimited 20 mbts for 200 Baht/30days. Every

AIS 300 baht per month unlimited 4g at 6 mbs. I use it everywhere no problems. E rn cast Netflix and you tube to TV.
Rick ********
Unlimited data shouldn’t be more than 200THB per month super fast speeds.

Just pay the fee from you provider in UK bit more expensive but reliable

My mate just paid £6 a day to get data with Vodafone UK. You can get a month from True for £8.

@John ********
I think not sure I paid £20 a month before
Chris *********************
@John ********
but do you have to change sim every month

@Chris ********************
No, you just top up and then select your package.

@Chris ********************
You mean use a UK SIM card with roaming charges. You're kidding right?

Iv lived here for a long time now ,

I have true in home and a package for mobile. But b4 I moved here full time

I used to use the package from my provider.

Even cheaper turn roaming off and just hotel wifi when you in room

@Dave ********
if you do a set deal with your provider it works .I used to do it with 3 mobile

Yes it's a bit expensive but you can set your limits per month

@Chris ********************
3 must be pretty cheap then. £7ish for unlimited wifi with my Thai sim card is way cheaper than my UK add on/bundle packages were.

That plan only gives you access to Facebook, FB Messenger, Line, WhatsApp and Twitter at a reduced speed for 30 days.

You have unlimited access to AIS WiFi hotspots but that’s assuming you can find one when you need one and actually get connected.

The SIM card itself is irrelevant, it’s the package you choose and pay for.

The “tourist” SIM cards are just regular SIMs that have some package already on them which is what you pay more for them up front.

Usually those packages aren’t the best deal.

It’s best to get a SIM with no package prepaid on it for like 50-60 baht then install the AIS app and to see what internet packages are available and what they cost.

Once you find the one you want, go to a 7-11 or Family Mart and pay cash to add that money to your account (topping up).

Then you can order your package through the AIS app.

You’re on a small island so the selection is limited.

Look on google maps and find some small mobile phone shops, they’ll have a better selection than the mini marts

Thais use a SIM card for their vehicles that lasts a whole year for around ฿1,750, you find it on Shoppee the preferred carrier is AIS…

Go buy a sim card, download the app for whatever carrier it is, load money in app, then pic what you want from the app.

No way 50 baht will get you mobile internet for a month.

I have same, internet side work well, calls work well, but topping up with non Thai debit card has been a pain and AIS app constantly logs me out whenever I verify card. AIS, I was told was best. Who knows, make sure you have enough data, middle of nowhere and stuck is not great. Also allows you to check air quality which at moment is lethal. Don't go out, wear high grade mask. I user air con and air purifier and top class mask £30 a time, lasts a couple of weeks
