They seem to be cracking down on non tourists sims, and require a thai national card to buy them.
But I just went to a dtac/true store ask them for the 50baht esim (they will try selling you tourist packages just say no just esim only) it comes with 1 day unlimited then install the app and you will have heaps of packages to pick from all allot cheaper than the tourist package.
I got the 450 baht unlimited 10mbs data for 30days

But I guess you stay in tourist zones, so signal strength isn’t a thing.

Just get a non tourist SIM..download the app and top up 10 Baht a month to keep it active. 6 months at 10bht a month up up keeps it active.

you don't have to top up every month. You can explicit extend the validity before leaving Thailand up to 1 year in the app or dialing an ussd code. It's only few baht for 30 daysMartyn ***********
