Ok. Further to my post about December immigration office closures it appears Friday 29th they will be closed too.

So holidays for December are:-

December 5th

December 11th

December 29th

Also Monday 1st Jan 2024 is a holiday too. That means that Tuesday 2nd January will be manic in many offices around the country. Avoid going if you can help it.

If your entry stamp or extension expires on a day where the immigration office is closed, and you go the next day that they are open you can still get an extension and you won’t be charged 500 baht per day overstay, but you will get a stamp in your passport saying something like “overstay xx number of days - fine waived due to closure”.

Land borders are open as usual during the holiday period.

Plan accordingly.

Directly quoted from "the other group."

**ATTENTION MEMBERS

IMMIGRATION OFFICE CLOSURES December 2022 & January 2023**

Immigration offices throughout the country will be closed on:

Monday, Dec 5: King Bhumibol Birthday Commemoration Day

Monday, Dec 12: Substitution holiday for Constitution Day

Friday, Dec 30: Special holiday

Monday, Jan 2: Substitution holiday for New Year’s Day

Plan accordingly.

* Land borders are open like normal during holidays.

* Myanmar borders are not open yet for foreigners.

If you have a stamp that is expiring during holidays when the immigration offices are closed and you show up at the immigration office on the very next working day you will NOT be fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal. But you will get an overstay stamp in your passport that says; "overstay xxx days, fine waived due to holiday/closure".

Hi all,

Does anyone know if and what dates immigration will be closed in the Christmas to new year period? My 30 day visa exemption runs on the 27th of December so thinking what day I should go down there to do my 30 day extension. Think I should maybe go on the 23rd?

Thanks for the help!

Hey guys! My friend needs an extension of stay at the 15. April. We realized now that the immigration office is closed already today until 16th.. Do you know if it is ok to go on the 17th?

He had a bike accident and just came back from the Hospital in Samui to Phangan the day before yesterday. He was in intensive care and is still wounded, so he didn't actually think about immigration office holidays. Thanks for your advice 🙏
