For anyone in Bangkok, this will be of interest - there are reports of police hassling and detaining foreigners in the Asoke area for not having their passports on them.

This guy was detained for two hours and had a copy of his passport details and stamp

This one was just asked by police to show theirs, presumably in the same area.

Hello all 🙂

I'm visiting Pattaya for the 1st time this October, and I also booked for the 1st time a condo with AirBNB at The Rivera in Jomtien.

The guest asked me to fill out an online form through Smoobu website (never heard) and upload a picture of my passport for immigration purpose.

This is my 1st time, so I was wondering if its normal procedure?

Hotels never asked me for that, is it only on Airbnb?

Thanks all for your help 🙂

I've left my passport at my mates condo and he's now gone to phuket. I plan on going as well. Do you think it will be okay just to have a photo of my passport if i go to phuket via car?

Thank you
