What are the visa application requirements for the DTV visa through the Thai consulate in Germany?

DTV Germany ✅

Applied to the consulate in Frankfurt via evisa.

Submitted bank statement (only the page that shows the balance) and a "freelance portfolio". This was pretty much a regular CV/resume highlighting that my jobs were freelance and remote. Also submitted a "Meldebescheinigung" which is proof of residency but I reckon your ID card (Personalausweis) would work as well.

✅ Got approved in 10 days no questions asked. A breeze!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully applied for a DTV visa through the Thai consulate in Frankfurt, using a streamlined process. They submitted a bank statement, a freelance portfolio (essentially a CV), and a proof of residency (Meldebescheinigung or a German ID). Their application was approved within 10 days without any complications. The post generated several questions and comments about the application process, required documents, and experiences from others regarding applying for Thai visas from Germany and other countries.

I’m the CEO/Owner of a Hong Kong based company, do you know if I qualify or it’s just for freelancers?

@Daniel ************
yes that should work too

I've emailed them and they answered quite fast. "Meldebescheinigung" is not required if you have a valid German ID card (Personalausweis). I assume it's the same in Berlin but I'll check.

Congrats!! If you apply for e-visa, you don’t have to go to consulate at all?
Christoph ********
@Sonja *******
no - in a lot country you can only apply via the e-visa platform

@Christoph *******
thank you! It’s great if you don’t have to collect your visa in person either, that’s a great news

Congratulations - unbelievable only a CV with the title "portfolio" is enough comparing with experiences inbthisngroup from other western countries. Do you also have a public professionell profile like a website or linkedin?

@Christoph *******
I do but wasn't asked. My CV/portfolio does look quite professional.

ID card with adress on the back is standard to proof your residence in Germany (I did it for non-o visum)

In Austria, a national ID is not enough! Need to provide an official registration confirmation unfortunately…

You didn't need to upload a Gewerbeanmeldung or letter from the Finanzamt saying you're a Freelancer? :O

Thanks for your report.

Congratulations on getting the 5 year DTV visa from the Thai Embassy in Germany.

Congrats

You mean via the Thai e-visa official site ? I thought it was not related to any embassy or consulate.

In the site application I would like to know if you can send several proofs of professional activity or only one document ?

Im looking for a solution to prove my photograph activity on microstock agencies.

as I stated a 1 page CV that I renamed "freelance portfolio" was enough. On the evisa site, of you are in/from Germany, you pick one of the three locations depending on the region in Germany

look at the websites of the Thai Embassy or Consulate which you will be submitting the DVT application for their requirements.

Some use the online Evisa application, others still submitted in person.

I've already look at the Thai embassy in France requirements, but I would like to proceed with the Thai E-visa application, so I would like to know they requirement but can't find any answer about the professional document, what they call "portfolio" and the possibility of sending more than 1 document as proof.

@Stéphane ********
they want you to submit it as 1 PDF document.. it can have multiple pages and it can contain more than 1 thing you do. Go to your website where your photograps are and print it to PDF. You can print multiple pages if it looks ok, or one at a time and then combine the single pages you printed into 1 pdf document (there are free online pdf mergers). That's how I submitted mine. At first I just sent them links to my websites as a PDF document but that was rejected. Actual website content printed to pdf was accepted. I have included 2 completely different things I can do remotely, 1. was my 3d artist portfolio and 2. was my youtube channel video page.

@Peter ********
Great ! Thank you for the details. So only a page of the portfolio showing your name and the agency name with the number of pictures uploaded is ok, something like this ?
Peter *********
Yep, I had something similar. I printed a page for each category on my website. So in your example that would be a page for photos, page for videos etc. showing thumbnails. Don't forget to compress it as the limit is I think 3MB and if you have a lots of pictures you can easily go over.

@Peter ********
I don't think they car about categories, they only want to see you're working online with an agency outside Thailand.

I have more than 8000 pictures online in 10 agencies.

So great! So easy. Congrats 🥰

German needs longer words. Those are too short 😅

And congratulations 🥳🇹🇭
