Hello,

My wife has a teaching job in a Bangkok international school, so they will provide us with lots of paperwork for the visa application.

She will be applying for the type b visa and me and the children type o visa.

We need to provide bank statements from the last 3 months. This will have to be from our joint account.

We get paid into this account every month and then pay our bills etc Therefore, the balance goes up and down. I knew we would have to show we have sufficient funds, so in May added a much bigger amount than needed from a savings account into this joint account.

So the month of May will show plenty of funds and the other two months will have a fluctuating balance, sometimes dropping below the required amount needed in the account.

I am just checking that this will be sufficient, as I am struggling to find the answer.

The savings account unfortunately is in my name.

Thanks in advance.

I am 59 years old, residing in Australia. In early August 2025 I will retire and get a cash payout in excess of 800,000 THB. It will be ample for setting up (required bank balance for 12 month retirement visa, car purchase, house renovation) and living costs in Thailand until May 2026 when I start to receive a pension, in excess of the 65,000 THB a month.

Once I receive that cash payout, I intend to make application via e-Visa for a 90 day Non-Immigrant Visa(O). The plan is I will fly to Phuket to stay with my girlfriend in a hotel for about a week, then we fly to Udon Thani to reside in her house for the remainder of the 90 days. I will later apply for a 12 month extension.

In regards to that 90 day Non-Immigrant Visa(O) application, I have these questions that I hope you can answer:

1. Purpose of Visit:

If I do not receive a pension until May 2026, can I use - Retirement (pension aged 50 or above with state pension who wishes to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days)?

Uploading bank statements will show regular fortnightly salary payments from my employer (in excess of the 65,000 THB a month), but not pension payments, and then the August cash payout from my employer.

Will the fact it's not a pension create a problem and possibly non issue of that visa?

Does it matter that I have not received pension payments at the time of application, seeing as the application asks for financial evidence of monthly income of no less than 65,000 THB or having the current balance of 800,000 THB?

Could I apply for the visa prior to the cash payout, based on my salary payments?

2. Accommodation in Thailand:

Under Accommodation type, for Private Property, it has a mandatory field for Accommodation name. What do I put in there for my girlfriends house?

3. Sponsor letter:

When I reside at my girlfriends house, as I won't be staying in a hotel, condo, Airbnb etc, I assume I will require a sponsor letter from my Thai girlfriend. What does it need to contain? Does it need to be in Thai or English?

Thanks

Hi, I am required to apply for an eVisa to visit Thailand.

Can I apply with a dummy ticket or I should buy a real ticket first?

My personsl experience.

OK just flew in on 60 day visa exemption.

The landing card completed fine.

I was questions by the IO on how long I was staying.

They asked where I was going and I presented an invitation letter from my fiance detailing where i would stay and scans of her address book and her identity card. They gave a little nod and finally checked where I was staying that night before my flight to phangan in the morning. Then stamped it.

Overall about 3 minutes, but I believe facilitated by clear paperwork.

The adage better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Fir reference I spent 39 days in September to October 2024. And 30 days February to March 2025 before this trip on may 15th.

I have a 52 day trip planned for September but I am going to apply for a proper tourist visa as it may save hassle with visa exemptions

Hello! We are on our first 20 days of a 60 day tourist visa. We would like to extend it a further 30 days and were wondering which would be the best way:

1. Do it now, while in a vacation rental in Ao Nang, as we leave in 2 weeks for a friend’s empty house in Pattaya.

2. It is fine to wait until Pattaya, staying at a friend’s place versus a rental will not matter much.

3. Just do a visa run instead since it is our first time in Thailand and unlikely to get denied for a single run.

Thanks for any input!

I applied for the DTV online and received the email attached the next day. I’m currently in Greece with family when I decided to apply for the DTV.

I attached a letter stating where I was staying and the stamp of entry to the application as proof of location outside of Thailand.

My understanding is you can apply from anywhere but their email states that I need to show I’m a resident there.

Any advice on this?
