Hello,

My wife has a teaching job in a Bangkok international school, so they will provide us with lots of paperwork for the visa application.

She will be applying for the type b visa and me and the children type o visa.

We need to provide bank statements from the last 3 months. This will have to be from our joint account.

We get paid into this account every month and then pay our bills etc Therefore, the balance goes up and down. I knew we would have to show we have sufficient funds, so in May added a much bigger amount than needed from a savings account into this joint account.

So the month of May will show plenty of funds and the other two months will have a fluctuating balance, sometimes dropping below the required amount needed in the account.

I am just checking that this will be sufficient, as I am struggling to find the answer.

The savings account unfortunately is in my name.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author needs clarification on the sufficiency of providing joint bank statements for a Type O visa application, considering variations in account balance. Important comments mention that any drop below the required amount may cause issues, and there are specific financial expectations tied to visa types.

Just curious would he not be piggybacking on his wife's non B, so why does he need a set amount in the bank?

Hi, I think I have got a bit confused. I have now been advised we just need to show we have a certain amount in the latest statement along with the school’s paperwork.

You forgot to mention on which visa extension you are. Married to a Thai? Retirement?

To answer the most important point, if the balance EVER drops below the required amount, it does not matter how many millions you then pour into it. You have not fulfilled the terms of getting or maintaining your extension. People regularly get refused extensions because of dipping below the required amount. Also, a joint account would require twice the funds to be shown, as immigration will assume that half are yours, and half are hers.
