Hello,

My wife has a teaching job in a Bangkok international school, so they will provide us with lots of paperwork for the visa application.

She will be applying for the type b visa and me and the children type o visa.

We need to provide bank statements from the last 3 months. This will have to be from our joint account.

We get paid into this account every month and then pay our bills etc Therefore, the balance goes up and down. I knew we would have to show we have sufficient funds, so in May added a much bigger amount than needed from a savings account into this joint account.

So the month of May will show plenty of funds and the other two months will have a fluctuating balance, sometimes dropping below the required amount needed in the account.

I am just checking that this will be sufficient, as I am struggling to find the answer.

The savings account unfortunately is in my name.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the suitability of their joint bank account's statement for a visa application, specifically regarding the fluctuations in balance over the last three months. They are concerned that despite having sufficient funds in May, the account dropped below the required amount in the subsequent months. A comment indicates that having the balance drop below the required amount could lead to visa extension refusals and highlights that joint accounts may require displaying twice the funds due to shared ownership.

To answer the most important point, if the balance EVER drops below the required amount, it does not matter how many millions you then pour into it. You have not fulfilled the terms of getting or maintaining your extension. People regularly get refused extensions because of dipping below the required amount. Also, a joint account would require twice the funds to be shown, as immigration will assume that half are yours, and half are hers.
