Hello! We are on our first 20 days of a 60 day tourist visa. We would like to extend it a further 30 days and were wondering which would be the best way:
1. Do it now, while in a vacation rental in Ao Nang, as we leave in 2 weeks for a friend’s empty house in Pattaya.
2. It is fine to wait until Pattaya, staying at a friend’s place versus a rental will not matter much.
3. Just do a visa run instead since it is our first time in Thailand and unlikely to get denied for a single run.
Thanks for any input!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their 60-day tourist visa in Thailand, considering whether to do it now while in Ao Nang or wait until they are in Pattaya. The community suggests waiting until the last week of the current visa to apply for an extension and emphasizes the importance of having a TM30 form filed if staying at a friend's home in Pattaya. They caution against applying too early and mention that doing a visa run is also an option, though it's advisable to time it correctly.
yes but on day 20 of 60 you will be denied in Krabi as well. too early. need to come in the last 1-2 weeks. (i have seen people getting send back in Krabi for this exact same reason)
Like people have said its generally not doable before your last week. Just make sure a TM30 has been done for everyone extending who use staying at your friends house. The TM30 needs to be done within 24 hours of arriving at the property I believe.
last time i did it in pattaya i went 3 times first time 2 weeks ahead said come back in a week came back they then said 3 days before really sucked wasting my time should of did the border run would of been cheaper and less hassle in the long run
If you want to extend in Pattaya (Jomtien) make sure your friend files a TM30 for you with the houses address and in Jomtien it can only be done in the last week
