Is there any advantage to getting a Single Entry Tourist Visa (UK) if I plan to stay in Thailand for 3-5 months?

Would it help in any way with a visa run (by air) after the initial 60+30 days expire?

Or would it be a waste of money, and I'd be better off just arriving without a visa, using the free 60-day entry + 30-day extension, then doing a visa run and hoping to get another 60 days?

Thanks!!

I have a 1 year non O (marriage) visa that's going to expire middle of March, I have a flight booked to the UK in April. I don't have 400k seasoned in my thai bank account. Is it possible to get some other kind of extension? I only need 3 weeks or so, or is leaving for a neighboring country and coming back on an exemption my only option?

Hi folks, I am a UK Citizen and have lived in Bangkok for over a year. I am having a lot of trouble getting my 'DWP Proof of Life certificate' signed.

So far I have tried the police station, my bank, my pharmacist and even the Tax Office where I pay my taxes, but no one wants to sign it for me.

It doesn't help that it is written in English and the people I have asked are unable to read it.

I have translated it to Thai via Google App Translator, but that does not seem to have helped any.

They have all told me that they are afraid to sign it in case they get into trouble.

It would really be helpful if we could just take it to the British Embassy, but I have heard that they would not sign it for me.

Any assistance or advice anyone could give me would truly be appreciated

If you put 800K baht in a savings account in Thailand for a retirement visa, will it pay any interest? If so, about how much recently?

Hi my friend had trouble coming in, he had hassle at airport immigration saying he had come back too quick . He flew to uk after stayin in Thailand for 90 days from sept to December then he flew back on 16 January after more than a month at home. The officer gave him a real hard time , to the point he thought he was getting refused entry. He wants to extend his 60 day tourist entry to 90 like he did last time but his fear is the immigration officer said she had put a note on his file. Do you think an agent would be able to get information on what was put on the file, he’s terrified to go to immigration to try extend and get refused . This is only his second visit , he hast been to Thailand since covid and even then only came for a 30 day visit. Any suggestions, he is not a con man just wanting to have nice longer holiday with new friends he has met. What would be cost for an agent to do 30 day extension? And do you think they can access what has been put in his file by airport immigration? Thanks in advance

Coming up on our first 180 days, I have a few questions.

If we decided to do the extension, what’s the cost?

If we extended at the end of our next 180 we have to leave, how long until we can come back?

Is it better to leave and come back before we hit the 180 days?

Thank you guys in advance for your suggestions and help.

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in Thailand and want to apply for the DTV visa. As far as I know, it can’t be done directly from Thailand. Has anyone experienced this and knows the best way to do it?

I’m considering traveling to a nearby country for a week, like Bali or Sri Lanka, to apply from there. Does anyone know which country is best for this and how long the processing time usually takes?

Since the processing time is unclear, I assume I’d need to book a one-way flight and wait for approval before booking a return ticket – or is there a better way to handle this?

Thanks for your help! 🙏

Hi all! I found all the updates extremely helpful, so I thought I'd post my own timeline.

I got approved for my DTV today (17/02). The email came through right at 6 pm local time. I submitted an application for the digital nomad subtype on 03/02 at 22:30 from Siem Reap. The status changed to pending approval the next morning, and it took exactly 10 business days to process from that point.

I submitted a screenshot of my online profile (with an embedded link) on a large, freelance marketplace that shows over 1,600 hours booked, high hourly rate, and several hundred client feedback ratings/comments. I included a short letter of intention and the general freelancer contract provided by the platform I market myself on. It's a general contract that essentially says I'm a freelancer and not an employee.

I provided my January 2025 savings account statement with beginning balance around $8000 USD and ending balance of $16000 USD with several deposits over the month from my personal checking to get the balance to the required 500,000 baht. I also provided a lease for an apartment that I signed when I was there in December. I wasn't asked for any additional documents. I have an American passport.

That's about it. Even though I had no reason to think it would be rejected, I was really nervous the whole time. But from what I can tell, if you are a legit digital nomad, there's no reason to stress☺️
