I just got my 60 day SETV in Vientiane before the new year, 1000 baht . I did it through an agent. I arrived at Thai Embassy in the morning around 10 am, applied for visa and got my visa and passport the following day at 4pm so a night required. I believe you cannot get your visa back same day of application so 1 night required wherever you go
it was a time when they were trying to enforce 2x30 day tourist visa per year. Alot of us oil and gas workers 4 on 4 off having issues back then. Think they used the overstay to check my story out
I was taken out of the que to the side to see a senior officer who was very pleasant. I explained immgration in chonburi told me this was cheaper option . Explained i lived here with condo contract bank accounts etc showed her proof and she let me through no problems.this was around 3 years ago tho
I went to immigration in Pattaya to do extention of 2 days. They told me there id be cheaper to pay overstay at airport which i did. A few months later returning back i got pulled in airport as had overstay stamp.
seems to be a hot topic here in pattaya now as plenty out of work oil and gas guys who own property having to do visa runs an extetions. Your in bkk so know locally but it's an old law that has resurfaced so maybe in future for tourists coming in staying at a friend's house the will need to file the TM30.i got told it was to track movements after the erawin bombing
