How can I legally extend my 60-Day Tourist Visa in Thailand beyond 90 days without leaving the country?

Hi everyone! I am Here on a 60-Day Tourist Visa (Austrian passport). I intended to extend by 30 days And then go back to Europe. However i miscalculated in total it is 94 instead of 90 days. I'd appreciate any idea of how to solve this issue. Preferably without leaving the Country. Many thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual on a 60-Day Tourist Visa in Thailand, who mistakenly planned for a stay longer than 90 days, is seeking advice on resolving this issue without leaving the country. Community members suggest various options, including applying for a 30-day extension at immigration for 1,900 THB, obtaining a 7-day extension by getting a denial stamp, or overstaying with fines. However, intentional overstaying is strongly discouraged due to potential long-term consequences for future travel.

You might also ask the advice at immigration while doing first extension - see what they can offer
Michael ********
They don't make special offers at Thai immigration unfortunately. It is our responsibility to ensure we are legal.

I have a similar situation where extra three days would be passed covered by the visa - thanks for sharing all the good possibilities

thanks Tod... most likely so. the regulation change continuously and I would ask, nevertheless

they can't "offer" anything, there's a 30 day extension for 1900baht on a tourist visa and after that there's the "extension denied" 7 days to get out of thailand stamp for the 1900baht

I am currently on a 60day tourist visa which expires tomorrow(sunday) so i plan on going monday for my first 30day extension
Michael ********
Are you in a hotel or residence? They seem to be clamping down on this TM 30 thing in some places....probably mostly in Pattaya though.....catching a lot of people out recently if Landlords don't register you.

Like i said i am going on monday 😀 but thanks for letting me know

Don't wait till Tues as office will be closed.

You can go to the immigration, get 7 more days with 1900thb. This is the safest and most legal solution. Overstaying is dangerous and anyway will cost you 2000.

i agree with Tod the best would be go to the immigration pay to extend the visa they will deny it so you have 7 days to leave the country it cost as much as paying the fine at the airport but if they the police can not arrest you in those days
Christine ***********
Id rather just go get my 30 day extension. Thanx
Tod *********
and the "leave the country option" would be to border-bounce to get a 30 day visa exempt entry when the 30 day extension was winding down..
Жанна ************
That would coast much more true 1900 thb

Thank you for the info!

@Chri*****
, yep, but be advised those southern border crossings have been asking some people for proof of 20K baht in cash when they enter the country. As long as you can show that you shouldn't have a problem
Christine ***********
Okay thanx i thought i had to stay a day or so. Im close to the malaysian border. So i can just hop out and hop back?
Tod *********
There is no rule on how long you have to be out of thailand.

@Christine **********
you could either fly out and right back in or go to a land border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country then stamp right back into thailand.

Either way would get you a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.
Christine ***********
How would that work? Do you just fly over and come back immediately or do you have to stay a day or 2?
Tod *********
Without leaving the country you have two choices

Get the 30 day extension for 1900baht and then after that get the 7 day extension denied stamp which gives you a week to get outta thailand also for 1900baht

OR

overstay and pay the 500 baht a day in fines for the 4 extra days.

Overstating a visa here can not only cause problems for Thailand but for future countries you may intend to travel to

Thanks Tod!

i agree

Personally I would never recommend intentionally overstaying a visa. It will cause problems if you are randomly selected and checked by authorities while out and about and the overstay stamp "might" lead to issues with immigration when visiting in the future.

Yes overstay payment at airport an option as I've done this myself for 3 days so cheaper than 1900 baht.however 18 months later on entry with same passport I got pulled aside by immigration and asked to explain my overstay
