I’m sure he bought the correct insurance. Insurance companies are nothing but scammers. They are living pieces of shit.

They are trying to milk the cow from both ends. Go ahead and pay the hospital. Then once you leave. The insurance company will pay the hospital. This is one of the biggest scams in Thailand. Go for a “walk”. Leave the hospital. Do NOT pay the hospital. Ask your insurance company to send a representative to the hospital. Don’t worry about it. You bought insurance. You are covered. The hospital thinks you are a stupid farang.

It’s the same process. I did my first application in Kohn Kean. I moved to Pattaya. Changed my address with immigration. Did my first renewal in Pattaya. I don’t know what Bangkok immigration requires. I’ve heard every immigration office is different.

Also you can use bank statements to show that your monthly income is more than 65 k Bhat a month. Not sure of how many months they request though. Possibly 12? Since you’re just retiring you can just produce your pension statement. The verification letter from the Canadian Embassy is $50 it can be done by email.

. Yes you need insurance if you’re applying from outside of Thailand. I thought you understood this when you were first researching living here.

You enter here on a 30 day visa exemption. You apply for the extension based on retirement. Bring your pension statements. Email the Canadian Embassy to get a verification letter. Fill out the application for extension based on retirement. Copy of your passport data page, passport photo, original letter and receipt from Canadian Embassy, original pension statement. Sign all photo copies and put your phone number on it.

I went yesterday to Kasikorn bank Central Festival Pattaya. All they wanted was my passport. No residency certificate. I’m on a retirement visa. They wanted 400 for atm card and a minimum deposit of 1,000 no insurance. Didn’t mention it, didn’t offer it.
