…and a visitor visa to the US for a Thai (woman), I think, is almost impossible to actually get (unless you have money / connections). 🤷‍♂️

Ugh. I did. Let’s just say some good some bad and the outcome after 7 years of trying for my wife and I (Fiancé visa route -> denied after her interview - then in 2020 asked them / paid Siam for the US visa registration fees but they didn’t submit the application — then Covid…It’s a long, sordid story.) Anyway, I never got a reply from the last message I sent my newly assigned (3rd? 4th) attorney / contact a few months ago — and I had the “money-back guarantee”, too. {Sigh} Anyway…good luck. My options are now: 1) Have Siam (that now my wife and I are leery about now) start the marriage visa application all over again with all new paperwork, or 2) try to apply myself / navigate USCIS immigration process, or 3) pay another $5k plus to a new USA immigration attorney to petition for her marriage / her son’s visa — and wait / hope those are approved (step 1) and she passes her interview (step 2) -> all of which will take 18+ more months. 😞

I would go back to read the official embassy website / page about it — maybe call them to ask. I know I had to present my Thai marriage certificate at the USA IRS office — in person — (another appointment) to get her US tax ID number, too.

can’t say definitively since I am no expert — but my attorney had me make an appointment way in advance at the US embassy in Bangkok to bring in whatever they needed (my passport etc) and then take some oath / sign this paper. I would look into it. 🤷‍♂️

As long as you went to the US Embassy in Bangkok to get that official paperwork and presented that at the amphur / marriage registration you should be ok. (I’m no expert, but that’s what I did when my Thai wife and I married in 2019. Then when I filed my US taxes I made sure to do everything to get her tax ID number.) Good luck!
