TLDR : Answer Summary
To open a bank account in Thailand with a non-immigrant O visa based on marriage, visit a local bank branch with necessary documents such as your passport, proof of residence (like a residence certificate or rental agreement), and possibly a marriage certificate. It's recommended to bring your Thai spouse for assistance. Different banks have varying requirements; Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn are noted as easier options. Be prepared for the possibility of needing to visit multiple branches due to differing policies and ensure to check the specific documentation they require.

Get a letter from where you are staying, stating you reside there. List your name, country, date of birth, passport number
Take this letter & passport and passport sizes photos to your local immigration & request a certificate/ letter of residency to open a bank account, they usually charge 500 baht per letter.
Take this residency letter with your passport to a bank
The residency letter is only valid for 30 days
Go to a main branch usually helps
Bangkok bank & ? Kasikorn are the easiest
SCB requires a yellow house book to open an account
Krungshri requires you to have a retirement visa
Bangkok bank will usually ask you to buy a bank product
Accident insurance for 12 months, cheapest option is just under $6,000 baht
Go to Maha Sarakham Immigration and get a Certificate of Residency. They will send you to Bangkok Bank that they have a special relationship with. I was still on Visa exempt when I got my account.
Open an account nearby where you live and most convenient for yourself.
Branches are rather fussy about doing simple tasks if it's not being done in the branch where the account was opened.
Aside from first going in with your wife, bring your passport, residence certificate or rental agreement, dress smart and obtain their list of singular requirements beyond the above.
Eat a hearty breakfast or lunch before going; what shouldn't take a long while often does... 🙃 555

As mentioned above, each branch will have its own rules. Statistically the easiest banks to deal with are Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn, and branches in areas with many farangs. Usually you need your passport and a residence certificate which you can get from the immigration, or a yellow residence book if you have one. Better go with your wife.

you go to a bank and after you wai you say : " please I would like to open an account in your bank. what kind of account do you have ? "
if the first one refuses try an other one .
now if you are married Why not try the same bank as your wife . it would for sure make things quite easy .

Take your passport and go to a couple of different banks and see what other documentation they need to open an account. I've found Kasikorn is pretty good to deal with and has good online functionality.
Should be pretty easy with a long term visa. People who encounter issues are normally on tourist visas or exemptions.

Just need proof of residence and a non O visa. Marriage has nothing to do with it and avoid a joint account.
If you don’t have a lease or yellow house book, just get a letter from the boss of your village.
my wife didn't just have her ID card, but it always depends on your location they all have their own rules

These are the standard documents, for most things in Thailand.

You go into a branch and ask. When they refuse you go to the next branch. When they refuse you try the next. I suspect you can see where this is going….
Each branch of each bank has the manager in charge of what they will allow. There’s no one that can say whether you’ll be successful. With a long term visa you probably will have more chance but no guarantees.
Failing all ways ask an agent to do it. Probably circa 5k for them to do so.
so true, also some of the visa agents also have connections with bank managers that will help you open a bank account even if your on just a normal holiday visa.
