Thanks guys, and as others have mentioned I would have been a lot more stressed and rather lost without your help :)

I literally just did this yesterday in Savannakhet, though my original marriage certificate is in Thai, and can verify everything Robert wrote is true.........

Good explanation....I remember a while back you (or maybe Tod or James) stated it very simply to me......A visa is used to enter the country, therefore you can't cancel something which you've already used to enter the country......An extension of stay is used to extend or allow you to stay in the country, therefore you must cancel it if the reasons for your stay change or you decide to leave........I guess the confusing part is that you need a re-entry permit to re-enter the country on the same extension of stay. So people therefore assume by leaving without a re-entry permit then it would "cancel the extension of stay automatically".....Most people would assume the 2 databases would be linked (like in other some other countries)....But clearly, they're not..... :)

Most of the questions on here have relatively simple answers ie "Yes, you can if you listen to my advice", "I don't know, you need to contact immigration" or "No, it's impossible"......Visas are stressful, so some people are unhappy because they don't like or "agree" with the answer/response......And if people don't get the answer they're looking for, then they're looking for a reason why, which in my mind is pointless half the time...... I've made a lot of errors and been a bit naive in the past and will probably continue to do so....The admins on here have been great with helping me and giving me direct advice. I've personally never felt judged when asking for help, but perhaps some feel they are being judged for their mistakes/stupidity/naivety.......I come on here because I just want a direct answer even if it's an "I don't know" or an answer I don't like. And if that happens then it's my responsibility to get on and deal with it.....(or pay an agency instead....!!!!)

Legally speaking yes, but not all offices enforce it in the same way....Here in Chiang Rai they enforce it no matter what you're asking for. However, according to my friends who just extended a visa in Chaiyaphum and Chiang Mai, they don't......Technically, the TM30 should have been done by your landlord/hotel owner......If it hasn't, then you could either a) Take an extra 800baht with you just in case......or b) Spend the night at a cheap hotel in Phetchabun before you go to immigration and make sure they do it then..... :) Good luck :) Hope it goes well either way :)

"Non Immigrant Visa Single Entry is THB 2,000.-. (Multiple NOT available)."......Never mind, I should have read the page more carefully....... Thanks

Non O Single Entry (but no retirement) if married to Thai or support Thai Child (if back to back application, they will ask show money THB 200,000.- in Thai Bank Account) ..............2 questions: 1) This means I wouldn't need to show any money the first time around for the single entry non-o , correct? And if you do, how long does it need to have been in the Thai bank for?.......2) Can you get a Non-O multi entry marriage in Vientiane. And if so how much money do you need in the bank, and how may months worth of bank statements would be required? :)

@James *******
I think you're right. Thanks James........It will depend a lot on how things go with the British embassy and local amphoe......I'll let you know it goes.... :)

I think I see what you're getting at though
@James *******
and go for a multi-entry Non-O based on marriage possibly if the Ed-visa goes wrong......
