TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is a requirement related to address registration for foreigners in Thailand, and its enforcement can vary by locality. While some users suggest it may not be explicitly requested during a tourist visa extension in Phetchabun, it is advisable to have a copy on hand to avoid potential fines. Establishments, like hotels, usually take care of filing TM30s, but in some instances, issues may arise if the form is not filed correctly. Several contributors shared their experiences, indicating that stricter enforcement may occur in different regions, emphasizing the importance of preparation when approaching immigration.

and we're done. They either WILL want it or the won't and I guess you'll find out when you get there.

Sorry, I just can't leave TM30 threads open. There are 70 immigration offices in the country all running like their own kingdom.

Legally speaking yes, but not all offices enforce it in the same way....Here in Chiang Rai they enforce it no matter what you're asking for. However, according to my friends who just extended a visa in Chaiyaphum and Chiang Mai, they don't......Technically, the TM30 should have been done by your landlord/hotel owner......If it hasn't, then you could either a) Take an extra 800baht with you just in case......or b) Spend the night at a cheap hotel in Phetchabun before you go to immigration and make sure they do it then..... :) Good luck :) Hope it goes well either way :)

If you are a tourist staying in hotels then the hotels have already filed your TM30s.

Marty Pollard yes, but in the few interactions that don't go well, to avoid a fine or tea money, you won't have the receipt! ... I was caught in a viscous circle in Phuket where they would not recognise my landlady/building manager authority to file the tm30, and I had to basically race to the airport from Immigration to avoid overstay leaving my possessions behind. My advice, start the extension process at least a week early

You visa has nothing to do with address registration. The law sounds a Foreigner who arrives at an address must be registered within 24 hours. And if you use a visa you are a foreigners, so YES.

I guess you will find out when you ask for the extension. Good Luck...and be prepared to file a TM30 or pay a fine if asked by immigration. You might be lucky and no problem.

Ciaran McNeill you asked...I answered. Good luck to you when you deal with Thai Immigration. BTW, I appreciate the good service that I have always receive from my visits to Thai Immigration for 13+ years living in Thailand.

Ciaran McNeill wake up! If one wants a service from Thai Immigration, pay the fine. Otherwise, until then no service. Then argue with owner or landlord about getting repaid the fine.
