Hi guys.....I have a Non-O extension based on marriage. If it expires on September 30th when is the earliest I can apply for a new extension?

If my memory is correct, I think we can apply for a new visa extension up to 45 days before it expires. Is that correct?

Is there anyway to do it even earlier than that, for example by cancelling my existing extension and re-apply?

The reason I ask is because I am considering using some of my 400k deposit and would rather not have to wait until October.....

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can typically apply for a new Non-O extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current visa, with some offices allowing applications up to 45 days before expiration. Cancelling your existing extension won't help expedite the process. To qualify for your extension, ensure your 400k baht deposit has been in a Thai bank account in your name for at least 2 months. Additionally, consider using a temporary family extension if needed.

Steven Wayne Simpson Yeah I've been thinking of that. I was planning on using half of it to put a down payment on a house......But trying to save up and reach 400k before July-August would be far riskier for me than saving up over 10-12 months...... :)

I think my other best option (apart from switching to a Non-B) could be to get a 60 day temporary family extension when my current extension is due to expire since I haven't used mine yet. That would give me a bit more time to top it back up.......

Tod, thanks for the message and the info about needing to apply 14 or 21 days before my current extension expires. That's really good to know and I'll contact Chaiyaphum immigration closer to the time about about that.........Do you think the same 14 day (or 21 day) rule would apply if I was to switch to the 60 day temporary family?

hang about, you are confusing some things I said. To get a NEW in country Non-O VISA you need to apply when you have enough days left on your current stamp <- that was in answer to your bad idea of canceling this extension and starting over from scratch.

To apply for a yearly extension of stay you can do it ANYTIME you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp and you meet the requirements (as in the funds need to be seasoned the full amount on the date you apply not the date your extension runs out).

Same goes for the 60 day visit thai family extension, you can apply for that when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp

Ah that makes much more sense..... Thanks :)

One last question, are there any financial requirements or a minimum deposit needed to get the 60 day visit thai family extension? :)
Tod *********
nope
@Jus***
, no financial requirements for the 60 day visit thai family extension

Can you not just use the cash now and top it back up in July so that it's in the bank a couple of months?

At most immigration offices you can apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp, (some allow you to do it when you have 45 days or less).

Sadly, cancelling your existing extension and then finding an extension you can get so you can jump thru the hoops to get a new Non-O visa and then a new yearly extension isn't gonna help you.

You need the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply and most offices ask you leave it in for the 30 day under consideration period too.

Ah, ok. Thanks Tod. I remember before CO-VID there was the 7-day emergency extension which people would use after they cancel their Non-O/Non-B to give them some time before leaving the country.......I guess switching from that to the Non-O extension without leaving the country isn't an option then? :)

@Justin *********
nope, doesn't help you at all because you can't apply for a new Non-O visa in country with any less than 15 days left on your current stamp (and some offices want 21 days left to apply)

Thanks Tod. That's good to know. I replied in a message below, together with Steven's post.... :)
