James Miller Not at the moment. Was originally planning on doing it in Nov/Dec before this happened. But now I'm in the process of trying to get this all sorted at the beginning of October BEFORE my current extension expires......However, the process is complicated and there's a lot that can go wrong in terms of the affadavits and getting the right documents for the local Amphoe at the moment. I'm heading to Bangkok next week...I'm a little concerned by rushing this I may end up screwing it up a little so I don't want to completely rely on that for the time being.....
I should have been a little more clear about that Nov-Jan. With my current extension expiring on the 25th Oct, 2 30 waivers would take me up to Christmas. Ideally I need it for 3 months, until the end of January.......Basically I screwed up my months up until March for bringing 40k into the country through Transferwise because I exchanged it into thai baht before it hit the bank. Therefore as far as they're concerned it wasn't a "foreign transaction".......
Sorry to bring this back up, but still deliberating on what to do. Would a 30 day visa waiver after I cancel my ed-visa, bringing me to the middle/end of November work around this. I've noticed all my extensions seem to be for 90 days, not 3 months, hence my current extension expires just a few days short of the 365 days since I got my first ed-visa........I also saw a post earlier about people having issues in Savannakhet so still considering which option would be better..... :)
Just to add another possible reason why they said don't go to Vientiane....As stated previously, you can't get 2 Ed-visas within 365 days from Vientiane....I've just noticed each extension of stay seems to expire every 90 days, not 3 months....Meaning you would be just short of the 365 days in total..... :)
I'm still planning on learning Thai at the same school. They have different levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced.........However, with all the difficulties I've had with this since I started studying last year I want to switch to a different visa as soon as possible...... Next Jan/Feb my plan is to move onto a 90 day Non-O marriage visa from Savannakhet, and then get an extension with the 400k deposit around March/April. These 3 months between November-January are proving to be increasingly frustrating......
I'm studying Thai and got my first visa from Vientane. My school provided me with the documents showing I was enrolled. I don't remember off the top of my head what those documents exactly were though. In terms of my own documents, just my passport and copies. They didn't want or ask for funds in my bank, police check or anything like that. This was around 25th October 2018. Since then Vientane seems to have gone through some changes......
Robert Lagas Ah, the letter states once every calendar year. Some previous posts I'm looking at suggest it's once every 365 days. :) Have there been reports of people getting rejected if they get a 2nd Non-Ed visa within 365 days? :)
Thanks Robert. Therefore I'd like to ask:.......1) Is this actually what happens in reality. My school seem to feel I can go a little bit earlier than the 25th October?........2) Do you have a document from a relevant office showing this, either in Thai or English, which I can use to show my school. The relevant websites don't seem to have this updated information :) ........3) Does this just apply to getting 2 Non-Ed visas SPECIFICALLY from Vientane within 1 year. i.e If I was to go to Savannakhet (for example) would I have the same issue......Thankyou for all of your help guys :) Have a nice weekend :)
