TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant O Visa based on marriage to a Thai national, you must apply at a Thai consulate outside of Thailand (e.g., Savannakhet, Laos or HCMC, Vietnam). The visa allows for 90 days of stay at a time, and you must leave Thailand every 90 days to reset the visa. It is not required to report to immigration every 90 days, and there is generally no home visit by immigration to check if you live together. Essential documents include passport photos, original and copies of the wedding certificate, wife's ID, and proof of financial stability. Extensions based on marriage have different requirements, including proof of living together.

I just got this visa on the 7th from America

. I fly back on Tomorrow to Thailand. You have to leave every 90 days. They don’t come to your home.

Okay, you are NOT gonna get a year extension based on marriage (where you don't have to leave the country) without meeting the proof of funds (400K baht in a thai bank account in your name for 2 months before you apply for the extension) without living with your wife, having her go to the immigration office when you apply for the extension AND having her be there when they do the in home inspection visit during the 30 days your application for a yearly extension goes under consideration.

IF you can meet those criteria, you CAN apply for an extension IF you cannot meet them then a yearly extension based on marriage is out.

Your option then is to get the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage from any thai consulate you want that sells it. It will required you to bounce out and back in ever 90 days, <- that's just how that visa works. BUT immigrations will not come to your house, you don't show proof of funds, and you don't need to live with your wife.

The year long multi-entry Non-O visa is probably the best "fit" visa wise given your circumstances.

I will be going to savanakhet in December. My marriage visa original is in English from Canada. I also have had to translated but Thai immigration. Should I take both of them with me?

Take BOTH marriage certificates the english one and the translation

Your wife is Thai, correct)

If you plan on extending this (based on marriage) There are other sets of "requirements". Best to ask your immigration office of residence for a list.

That is a total different ball game with different requirements. But the application will go 30 days under consideration and Immigration may visit your house to see if the marriage is de jure and de facto. Not a good option for the OP, keep it save an apply abroad for the visa.

I literally just did this yesterday in Savannakhet, though my original marriage certificate is in Thai, and can verify everything Robert wrote is true.........

on each entry of the multiple entry O visa, you get 90 days to stay inside Thailand. You can leave before 90 days are up too, and the next time you stamp in (within the visa validity, of course), you get a new period of 90 days (the day you enter is Day 1 of 90, btw).
Benjamin ******
Yes, on an multiple entry Non-o visa it is a requirement to leave every 90 days

Is it a requirement with the visa to leave the country every 90 days
Benjamin ******
Tony Livingston. I'm not sure what you mean by"what happens when you leave every 90 days". When you want to leave Thailand, you figure out a way to leave Thailand, and then you return to Thailand and fill out a TM30.

Yes you can do, read this

Easy ways to apply for this 1 year visa is at the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet Laos or HCMC in Vietnam as these consulates do not ask for financial proofs. You apply in the morning and get your visa next day in the afternoon. As you apply at a Thai Consulate, they do not sent Thai Immigration out to check if you live together at one place. I can not tell if Immigration will visit houses on checks for visa, address registrations etc in the future, I know in some areas Immigration goes out to do random checks. These are the requirements for this visa: Needed documents for 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on married with Thai National:

2 Passport pictures

Original Wedding certificate

Copy wedding certificate front and back (signed by both)

Copy ID wife front and back, signed by her

Copy blue house book address and name page signed by wife.

Copy ID page passport singed by yourself

Fee 5.000 Thb.

In HCMC you also need a letter from your wife, with your name and passport details, her name and ID details to ask the Consul to give you the Visa as she like you to stay with her for another year.

And as I just saw on another page, signed copies are certified copies, you DO NOT have to translate the Thai into English and the English into Thai and get those notified by your Embassy and then stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

you only can get the 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on being married to a Thai National at a Thai Consulate and these are only outside Thailand. With this type of visa you're only allowed for sections of 90 days inside Thailand, no need to report that you are that long or even longer inside as you have to leave the country. Immigration does not visit your house and as not living together is a problem, I would not know.
