, I know this type of visa is just in the works now, and a lot is unclear. I looked at the posted screen shot of requirements.( and other articles posted in online newspapers) This particular screen shot does mention the required 500,000bt bank requirement, and yes, it doesnt say it must be in a Thai bank. You mentuoned the bank statement( with equivilancy of 500Bt) can be in any bank around the world. Is this speculation, or did you read elsewhere that the money doesnt need to be in a Thai bank?
I.m not trying to give you an agruement, its just I.ve had a hard time getting a bank account opened in Thailand. Just checking to see if you saw previously that the money can be in a ban outside of Thailand...Thanks for any insight.
right good point...however, I.m thinking that I.d like to stay there full time, or more than 180 days a year. Guess we.ll see in the end how much tax one would pay on the 800,000 bt, if any for retirees. Hopefully it would a low amount.
I.m curious as I.ve been following different views on the new tax rules. If an American citizen , on a social security pension, files there taxes for 2024, but DOES NOT NEED to pay taxes on that income to the US because its a small amount, do you think Thailand would tax the money in the Thai bank? In other words, if a US citizen files taxes but doesnt need to pay taxes, will money in a Thai bank be taxed?
I.m curious about one additional question. As required by many airlines, and Thai rules too, you must show a ticket exiting Thailand, (at least when you check, in my experience)
Make sure the empty pages you have dont say " endorsment" on the page. This is the case is USA passports, there are pages at the back that cant be stamped if they say " endorsment".
, I was directing that information to another comment on your post from a Usa citizen...Your post actually helped the two of us find out information...
I truely wish Thailand made their visa system as easy as Cambodia. If you do decide to try living outside Thailand, Cambodia is not that bad, and quite affordable. Theres more to it than only Phnom penh too.
