I.d like to know if the 6 month multiple online visa must be done from your native country, or could I actually do it from Cambodia? I am a USA citizen with an American address, but I am in Cambodia with a housing lease here. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A USA citizen currently in Cambodia inquiring about the possibility of applying for a 6-month multiple entry Thai visa from there. The consensus from community comments indicates that multiple entry visas generally must be applied for in your country of citizenship or permanent residence, implying that applying from Cambodia without Cambodian residency wouldn't be possible for this visa type. Some users noted successful applications for shorter visas from Cambodia, but highlighted that the specific requirements for the 6-month visa necessitate applying from the USA.

so...it says

Permanant residency/ Current address

My understanding is am not necessarily a permanant resident here, as I havent registered with the US embassy for example.

Now, I.m confused again with your screen shot. Does this mean that I could still apply forthe 6 month multiple from Cambodia? My understanding is I.d have to apply for it in the USA, and show plane tickets leaving and returning to the USA.

Btw, I do appreciate your energy here. Just not clear if that screen shot entitles me to apply from Cambodia..the only proof of me being here is a housing lease with a Cambodian address. No permenant resident card like the responder from Portugal.

I have not opened the website, so thanks, but the bottom of the screen shot shows this is for a 2 month visa? Am I correct on this? I was hoping to apply for the 6 month multiple.

It is as it is - you can only apply for a multi entry Tourist Visa category in the home country of your citizenship. you could apply for in Cambodia if you hold a residence status in Cambodia. You mentioned you don't - which doesn't leave many options. You can but achieve up to 5 months stay 100% for sure, by entering with a 60 days single entry Tourist Visa, which you extend on Immigration for 1900.- THB for 30 more days. Then before 90 days are up you need to do a border run, this will give you a visa-exempt entry admitted 30 days, which you can also extend once, for 30 more days. This is already a months stay, and you could theoretically do a second border run giving you 30 days admitted stay, a last time. If you wish to be on the safe side, use "visa run companies" for these border runs, as they "grease the wheels"

yes thanks...I appreciate your input.

The screen shot showing the application with a Cambodia entry, threw me for a monkey wrench.

Sure, I.m following all the facts on this site, and understand what it takes to get the Non O converted to the retirement visa.

My lack of knowledge was on the 6 month online multiple entry. I know you had to apply for it out of Thailand, but wasnt sure if I could do it from here.

I wanted to make certain if I could get the multiple entry 6 month from here, and people answered it. Like I said, when someone sent the screen shot with Cambodia entered in the address area, it was confusing.

I basically want to get a bank account open in Sept, then return to Cambodia. Then go back to the Usa to transfer money in the account. It would have been great to have the multiple entry visa, but I see it needs to be done from the Usa. My thoughts are that it would be easier to open the bank account with a Tourist visa, rather than a visa exempt....like you said, it is as it is.

Cheers.

No your home

Yeah, I couldn't recall whether I uploaded the tickets or not. I do wonder though if you're explicitly required to enter from your home country.

is okay Chris.

I.m just going to fly in on a visa exempt in Sept, and try to find an agent to pay, haha, to help me open a bank account there.

I don't know if the system is sophisticated enough to track your IP address, but the requirement is that one apples from ones home of record (in your case, the US). You can most certainly complete the application from Cambodia and it's possible a VPN will shield your location but with a non-refundable $200 fee you might hesitate at taking a chance.

hi Chris...think you need to upload plane tickets leaving the USA as well.

Was just checking ...I dont do VPN
John **********
You can only apply for the multi entry tourist visa in either your home country or a country of which you officially are a permanent resident.
Chris *********
If evisa would applying using VPN work?
John **********
@Chris ********
nope. They want to see flights and passport stamps

thanks John. You brought some good insight to the question I orginally posted. Yes, logically if you need to upload the plane tickets leaving from America, and I would have been leaving from Cambodia, it wouldnt work...amazing how a question derails into disputes with others.

Anyway, thanks for that info
Chris *********
@John *********
but if applying online everything would be uploaded of course
John **********
@Chris ********
sure. But if you don't have a flight out of your home country it ain't gonna work. You also need to show a 2nd entry to Thailand
Chris *********
@John *********
also doable
John **********
@Chris ********
so are you planning forging your passport pages and buying dodgy airline tickets. I guess you could just parachute in and avoid immigration altogether too.
Chris *********
@John *********
I'm not sayinh anything of the sort. Only apply same as I would from my country while elsewhere. Not forging anything. And hypothetical only. You can relax.
John **********
@Chris ********
but that's the point, you can't apply just the same as if you were in your own country. It won't work

Single entry tourist visa you can apply on any Embassy/Consulate.

Multiple entry tourist visa can only be applied for in your country of residence or nationality.

So, unless you have Cambodian residency, you can only apply for a single entry tourist visa.

right , thanks.

I presume you did the 2vmonth visa with an agent, or online?
Kilie *******
@Paul ******
they did not have the evisa option, I had to print the form and actually take it to the embassy. I did not use an agent.

So basically if you are trying to apply for one of those types of visas you have to look at the local embassy website. For example, in Portugal - I had to show residency in Portugal as I am American to apply for any sort of Thai visa.

good luck though!!! Im in Laos right now doing my visa lol

Im not sure how it works in Cambodia. Like in Portugal it was a 2 year process to get a residency card which has my photo on it. That is what was required from the Portugal Thai Embassy. Cambodia is very different though....

okay thanks for the input.

I have a feeling it wont work as I have not declared myself a resident of Cambodia to my emnassy here. I do have ever have a housing lease as I.m working here at the moment. By residency, do you mean having a housing lease and living here, or declaring residency at the US embassy?
