To be clear, there are no changes for the US Emb-BKK re: issuing the income affidavit to date. Unofficial sources have stated that it is under review. Also, as usual there’s a delayed implementation date and the letter is good for 6-months.
I think some of the confusion at the same office is part of the game/scam so you can be fined later. The law requires it and recommend, regardless what an individual officer says, be respectful and persistent to lodge it so you have a paper copy/receipt in your passport.
Respectively, I have a Thai wife (going on 10+ years) and I’m over 50 years old. I opt go the retirement route vs marriage to a Thai. I don’t deposit money in a Thai bank account but get a letter from my Embassy that my retirement income is more than 65k THB a month. Easier —-
Hope the results if this survey gets forwarded to the PM, Immigration Head, & Tourism Head officials. The survey can be further supported by the recent Chinese express lane at BKK airport; when has Thailand done something like this to encourage Westerner Expats or tourists?
