SG is great, I’d spend 4-5 days there, if possible.

To be clear, there are no changes for the US Emb-BKK re: issuing the income affidavit to date. Unofficial sources have stated that it is under review. Also, as usual there’s a delayed implementation date and the letter is good for 6-months.

Did you get this in writing or just a verbal? Who at Immigration articulate this - Immigration Officer vs Chief?

Note: the Thai law cites every time it needs to be reported within 24-hours. Without something in writing it’s just 2nd Hand hear-say!

I think some of the confusion at the same office is part of the game/scam so you can be fined later. The law requires it and recommend, regardless what an individual officer says, be respectful and persistent to lodge it so you have a paper copy/receipt in your passport.

You can use a “joint account” but Immigration will only credit 50% of the deposit to the application.

- per the above, it was mentioned for the marriage Visa/extension but not needed for the retirement Visa/extension.

Respectively, I have a Thai wife (going on 10+ years) and I’m over 50 years old. I opt go the retirement route vs marriage to a Thai. I don’t deposit money in a Thai bank account but get a letter from my Embassy that my retirement income is more than 65k THB a month. Easier —-

Hope the results if this survey gets forwarded to the PM, Immigration Head, & Tourism Head officials. The survey can be further supported by the recent Chinese express lane at BKK airport; when has Thailand done something like this to encourage Westerner Expats or tourists?
