 I have a theoretical question: How does someone from the embassy know where someone is applying from?

The application is done electronically, so anyone can apply from wherever they want if they meet all the requirements?

Even if they have software or simply recognize the IP address, can a VPN be used and thus "mask" the IP?

 No, I got my "USED" stamp when I first entered Thailand, literally one day after getting my visa. I got it at the Mukdahan border crossing.

 I don't know, I did that 60 day extension right after my first entry and no one told me that the visa would be cancelled. I already entered Thailand last night and got a new stamp for another 90 days.

At which immigration office did they tell you that?

 Did you do a border bounce after that and did you have any problems getting on the plane or getting into Thailand?

 I have a multi entry Non-O visa, every 90 days I leave the country and come back. Does this mean that every time I re-enter the country I can use the IDP?

I mean, does the ability to use the IDP reset for 90 days every time you enter Thailand?
