seriously still a tough call for us. But we are sceptical of the requirements going forward. Nothing set in stone for the DTvisa. But more critically for our personal situation, we are only home one month when we go back. And one requirement for the DTvisa is that you must remain in Australia until the visa is granted. A time issue really. Where with the retirement, I understand we can come in on a visa exempt if the visa doesn’t come through in time, then we can go fora holiday outside of Thailand when the retirement comes through then come back in and activate it. Stupid here booked our flights before I realised our visa exempt days were over. The insurance we need to buy for the retirement is app A$300 plus visa A$300. DT visa A$600. I know you get 5 years DT visa. But maybe if rules change and you have to keep buying courses every 6 months, that could get expensive and doing the courses would definitely impedance our travel flow. Wow that was long winded.Apologies.
yeah there is a direct email to Canberra I have been using since I found out, because I live in Cairns, I have to use Canberra. Only NSW residents can use Sydney.
I have actually decided to go the retirement route. But this was the email answer given when I wrote to them asking, can I use a Thai language course for the DTVisa. Sydney consulate.
