I am about to apply for a tourist e-visa 60 days through the Sydney Thai embassy website. Can anyone please tell me if I need to produce a return ticket in this application at any point, as it isn’t in their list of required documents ? I Appreciate any help on this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired if a return ticket is necessary when applying for a tourist e-visa through the Thai embassy in Sydney, noting that the requirement wasn't listed. Responses varied, with some indicating that while the e-visa requirements may differ, generally for the tourist visa (TR) a return ticket isn't required. However, airlines may request an onward ticket at the airport. Additional comments discussed the process for applying for visas from Australia, particularly emphasizing the advantages of using the Sydney embassy for e-visa applications compared to Canberra.

hi, you complete the online application via Sydney or Canberra and upload required documents. Once reviewed by the embassy/ consulate you will receive an email then telling you to post passport and send bank cheque for the fee. Passport will then be returned back to you in Cairns. This can take about 15 working days and maybe allow a bit more time to Cairns.

thanks for that info Donna. I have 5 weeks. I hope this will be enough time. Might give them a call after Easter.

Sydney is better as it operates pre-approval whereas Canberra doesn't. Sydney is faster

Five weeks should pull it up for a tourist visa. I think our buddy Wayne Roberts got his OX in less time than that, and the OX requires a lot more info

agree just given Sam both options from Cairns. I used Canberra online for STV.

Camberra does not allow pre-approval online

@Sam ****
you go online to Sydney thai consulate and do the online pre-approval application, when you get the email back confirming pre-approval you then send passport and paperwork to the Sydney consulate for the visa to be stuck into your passport

@Sam ****
you would probably have to go online to Thai Embassy in Canberra . Fill out forms and mail passport there

oh no. Is what I am looking at just an online form? Any idea how I get one from Cairns?

No, you don't need to show a return ticket for the TR visa.

But the airline may ask to see an onward ticket at the airport.

At the evisa website It's on the list. If the requirements are different in Australia I do not know

Sydney doesn't provide e-Visa

I know. If they did he would probably be applying through the Evisa site, and not the Embassy in Sydney. 🙂

I have mistaken their online application for an e visa. So I may as well just go in visa exempt and then just extend for 30 days yeah?
