Your wife can create and register a small business. This would not be a Thai Registered Company. It is more like a Sole Proprietorship. It is not expensive to do this. There would be a definition of the business type - nature of the business even - hand written in Thai. The description could be broad and general - somewhat open ended. You are hired as husband to be an employee in a letter - even hand written in Thai. You would be working for your wife. You can then go to the labor ministry and apply for a Work Permit with your wife, the letter of hire, marriage license, her ID Card, Your passport with Evidence of the O Visa based on Marriage and/or - Extension of Stay based on that O Visa .
I think there is a middle ground... People should do enough basic research to ask an intelligent question instead of starting at 3rd grade level. And yes - this Group like others are here to help
David Broadfoot The standard TR Tourist Visa is Not a 90 day Visa. It is a 60 day visa with option to get a 30 day Extension at Immigration for 1900 Baht
Try this thought. On the STV which is in actuality a 270 day stay by using the two 90 day Extensions. Overall cost is modest too. 270 days is a long time. If you arrived in January - your stay would be through September 2021. In this time it is quite possible that Thailand will open the border and neighbor countries could too. A bit of normalcy. No guarantee of this as you know. But if any degree of normalcy comes about you could go to Thai Consulates in Penang, Malasia, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and elsewhere and get another kind of visa even an O Visa 90 days,, Tourist Visa, etc. Then Reenter Thailand. Next at the appropriate time apply for the next step. There has been little experience with the STV but it is possible you could set up a Thai Bank Account - prepare your financial requirements. Be ready to go.
Yes you can... because the O-A Visa is a Multi-Entry Visa (no Reentry Permits need to be purchased - in the first year of the O-A). But unless Thai policy changes - Border is open, etc. You could face the same Reentry hurdles and expenses. With a little luck a return to normalcy will occur mid 2021... But?
Yes Gene, The O-A Visa is (for you) processed in the USA at a Thai / Consulate / Embassy. Tod posted the consolidated web address where you now upload your documentation. It was different in the past - so you have to "change gears".
Note: O-A is an actual Visa good on face value for a one year stay. In that one year it is not called an Extension of Stay. You haven't really shown confusion on this - my efforts are just to offer some preemptive education.
If you process a "Retirement" Visa One Year Extension in Thailand the money would need to be in a Thai Bank. But note: The O-A long stay Visa is only processed in the Home Country using banked money or monthly income documented in the Home Country.
