Hello I am trying to escape from the USA to go with my Thai wife and daughter back to Thailand ASAP and hang out though July. I do not have money in a Thai Bank. My wife has some. Can I get a non O?

I had one before but I had gone to Savannakhet

W/out funds in a thai bank. Any ideas of what I can do so I can stay through July?

I don't think that the STV is possible because of being from the USA.

Thanks for any ideas of how to make this happen. Southern California and covid is crazy now, I know about the recent stuff in Thailand but it looks a lot better to deal with that than live here right now. Age 47

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for advice on obtaining a NON-O visa in order to move to Thailand to be with his Thai family. He is concerned about not having a Thai bank account with the required funds, as he has previously obtained a NON-O visa but is looking for options to extend his stay without sufficient financial documentation. Community members suggest that he can apply for a NON-O visa based on his marriage to a Thai national at his local US consulate, which would grant him a 90-day entry without needing to show financial proof initially. However, extending the visa later may require proof of funds in a Thai bank account. Some discussions mention that despite current COVID-19 restrictions impacting travel, the STV visa may not be an option for him due to current regulations and outbreaks in the USA. Community members offer various insights into income verification and the potential for a family visit extension.

They both start out hot and wet and you end up losing your house and your car

Same as western women? They take your house?

What does Koh Vidiot insurance cost these days? Probably cheaper than car insurance no? Since you have a greater chance of injury and death in the auto.

Joann ********************
@Jones ******
my brother got an O single entry 90 days. He is married to a Thai and that was the only option he could check on the only visa application

STV should be Available. It’s available for every country. Contact your nearest embassy to find out.

unfortunately USA has been made great again and is number one in covid so STV is not possible for USA

I haven’t heard of any backtracks from the Thai government. It may be that your embassy is just not offering it yet. It was announced a couple of weeks ago that it was available for every country world wide. It’s up to the embassy to update their website and to start accepting applications. I’m sure there was some people in the past week or 2 that have applied for it (at least it was discussed in some fb groups)
Ruth *******
@Ryan *******
Not the STV. Every country can get the regular TV and can then extend. There is no longer a need for an STV.
Ryan ********
@Ru**
not true. The regular tourist visa is only up to 90 days. The STV is up to 270 days. Yes every country can apply for the STV if it’s available via their embassy. But can only be issued by passport country.

okay as people pointed out you don't need to show proof of funds to get a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage from one of the 4 consulates in the US that issue visas now (chicago, new york, los angeles or washington dc)

Once you come in you'd get stamped in for 90 days

Unfortunately for you, you cannot use foreign income to get an extension inside the country once you enter on a Non-O visa. As an american you either bank 400K baht for 2 months before you apply for the year extension OR you transfer IN to the country in a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months :O

SO that means you have little option to extend your 90 day entry stamp other than the 60 day 'visit thai family' extension. That'd give you 5 months here though all in

People have been known to walk across the Burma border but not recommended. Why do you want to escape the US? Wife going crazy? Take her south to warm weather and sunshine.

we are in southern California and besides the strange rain today it is sunny and beautiful

I have to work from home as it is and maybe will not get to go back to my work site until August

We had planned on going last summer but it wasn't possible

And we were hoping to go for summer this year as well because it is too hot here in summer - near Palm springs

Plus I like being in Thailand too I just hate it having to work there under Thai economy

@Keow ******
I see. Well get her out of Cali. Life time alimony after just 10 years of marriage. Once they find out from a friend it's game over for you. My son is in shitty wisconsin thinking he won't get divorce raped too some day. He's gonna show me how it's done, marriage forever. Eeeesh. Which is worse?

AND once you get that Non-O visa you would still need to meet the entry requirements (100K dollars US in covid insurance, 15 day quarantine here at an approved facility, negative covid test, fit-2-fly certificate and a Certificate of Entry from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to get in :)

I am okay with this other list. Not easy but it is doable.

I just don't want to have to do asq two times.

Please note that the following types of visas are NOT permitted to enter Thailand:

Due to a high number of infection rate,

– the APEC card holders and the applicants who are currently in the USA or will be traveling to

Thailand from the US and

– those who wish to obtain Special Tourist Visa (STV)

do not fall under the categories that could enter Thailand at the moment,

The STV visa is not available due to increased Covid infections

For 3 months non O you don’t need financial requirement in America. After 3 months you need to show either 400k baht in your Thai bank or 40k baht income
Canice ******
David Broadfoot oh. He mentioned be scanned and email to him. If embassy stopped the only option is 400k then. That income method you need to transfer to your Thai bank for 12 month

@Canice *****
in the real question is can I show income from my job in the usa?

I cannot go to work and it does not look like I will be able to go back to my work site until August, maybe. I would prefer to be in the sticks/ rice fields with my in-laws than here.
Canice ******
@Keow ******
can embassy us in Bangkok verify your payslip ? If yes.. you can use it.. for mine I used my payslip and show embassy Singapore in Bangkok to verify and hand all those document to immigration.. and I got my extension 🙂

After asq I hope to be able to run away as fast as possible from Bangkok.

To the best of my knowledge there is no financial requirement for a non-o in your home country. Also it was dropped for the STV and all countries can apply for that one. I suggest getting in contact with the closest thai embassy.

You can apply for a non O visa based on being married to a Thai at your local US consulate. On entry you’d get 90 days. Without money in a Thai bank you can’t extend that in country. The best you could do is apply for a visit family extension which would give you an extra 60 days. Not enough to take you to July but who knows what the situation will be then. There may be other options open for you then (or not).
Michael ********
Do you have the money in American bank ?

You dont have to show the
*****
0 baht in Thai bank account until you do extension
Mark ******
David Broadfoot LOL, OK - details. :). The point I was trying to make is that he needs to be aware of the fact that the money needs to be "seasoned" for two months before the "O" extension. Remember, that will be difficult to arrange for the first 15 days while he is in quarantine.
Keow *******

@Michael *******
is the extension after three months or one year?
Michael ********
@Keow ******
Three months, i normally go same route as you its easier for offshore workers.

I was issued Non O based on marriage in Singapore that was valid for three month and then i just got the 1 year extension.

You only have to show money in Thai Bank for extension. You can show money in your bank at embassy.
Mark ******
@Michael *******
True, although that money (400,000) has to have been in the bank for two months prior to the date of extension. i.e. you have one month after entry to Thailand to get the money into a Thai bank.
