maybe that’s their CYA reply if someone asks randomly. They often apply different standards to different nationalities. The same embassy might be ok with someone from a first world country to supply one bank statement but they apy more scrutiny for someone from a developing nation.
perfect. I’d ask them for the letter to cancel the visa as a backup. If a stop at immigration is easy for you do it. Otherwise I would just exit and get the DTV. You’ll see, the officer who stamps you out will reiterate that leaving without the REP will void the ED Visa. How much time is left on that? Btw, if you’re attending a degree course the new law grants a one year add on for those who graduated.
I guess there is a possibly that would work (just like some people reported that they applied and obtained their DTV while still in Thailand on another visa or exemption). Would I risk it? Maybe not especially if you have to go to Immigration anyway upon return to cancel it out. Another guy said the consulate in Vancouver told him they would cancel it there which sounded odd but hey, Thailand. 😂
what exactly do you mean? For example, many people get a multiple re-entry permit in one go when they are at the Immigration office so they wont have to deal with it later. It’s valid until the end of the extension of stay. In that case, leaving the country won’t automatically cancel out the underlying visa. But if you have none then leaving will render it void and you couldn’t re-enter under this record. The IO at the airport will warn you of this and refer you to the RE Permit counter in case you want to return on the same visa.
You can’t apply for the eVisa from Thailand. You have to be stamped out at the very least. If you have a current re-entry permit you have to cancel that at Immigration before you leave.
