What are the experiences with DTV entry stamps in Thailand?

FYI, I entered yesterday with DTV. Didn’t have the printout of the e-visa, didn’t mention it as I am only staying 2 weeks. They stamped 180 days DTV anyway.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience of entering Thailand on a Digital Tourist Visa (DTV) without having a printed copy of the e-visa and mentioned that they were still granted a stamp for 180 days. Community comments reflected on the importance of having the printed visa ready as instructed, with some users discussing their contrasting experiences with visa stamp durations.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how long do you plan to stay, the DTV grants 180 days per entry.

The instructions on the visa say to have it ready in printed form. Why look for trouble?

no such instructions anywhere in the entire process. Just in your head.

it might be asked, and most likely would be asked, on the other country, when boarding a flight to Thailand (especially if you have a single ticket). In Thailand they won't ask to see it, as when the officer scans the passport the information is pulled out automatically. And even if they ask in Thailand, you can show the QR code on your phone and that's it.

I was asked several times to present my evisa at immigration since the system came online. Sure depends on the mood of the IO I guess.

As mentioned, I was only staying for 2 weeks and had intended to just get the tourist visa. Also didn’t have access to a printer as I only got the visa the other day.

You seem to be, so yes!

Good on you for not being able to follow directions 😮

The email they sent you says to PRINT OUT the PDF because that is your visa, 😕

this is the type of person that will get refused and then cry because he has the visa but didn’t follow the visa instructions. He can’t say he wasn’t told.

no where on the email does it say to print out the email or the visa. Boomers love to print things

Anonymous participant it actually does tell you if you read through it properly. You MUST print the PDF. This has been covered many times. And yes they can refuse.

You are the kind of person whose attitude will get them refused on a re-entry because you think you are entitled to do what you like.

Understand how immigration works, they don’t care about you. But they will certainly take pride in rejecting you for being rude or bad attitude. 😉

it doesn’t at all. Maybe different embassies have different rules but mine doesn’t say anything at all about printing.

Anonymous participant I can tell you now for sure, that the email you got with the confirmations in there, and it’s also stated on the PDF itself.

I can tell you my pdf doesn’t say anything about a print out

Anonymous participant are you the same guy that asked the question in the Ex-Pat group a couple of days ago?
Kevin ********
Anonymous participant well you do you, the visa is the print out, immigration are only supposed to take the visa in your passport or the printout. So can’t say you haven’t been warned, especially if you are coming in and out of the country. Because sooner or later you will get refused.

So remember that you were told when running around like a headless chicken trying to do anything without a printed copy. Haha

And by that I mean, residence certificate, driving licence, etc will all require you to have it with you.

So it just popped up on their system and they stamped you 180 days - good one. I have come in on a 2 year visa and had to point it out to them :-)
