Taipei - do they still issue DTV within same day? Colleague got response from them today that it takes up to 3 days if all documents are in place, if missing - up to 5 days. On the other hand, when i inquired, they told me same day. Possible that the volume of applications have increased hence longer time to process? anybody applied last week or so and got it same day? Also, has anyone booked a hotel not far from the office? if yes, could you please recommend. thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the issuance of DTV (Digital Visa) visas in Taipei, with mixed reports on whether they are still processed on the same day. Some users said they received their DTV the same day, while others reported increased waiting times, stating it now takes a minimum of 2-3 days due to a rise in application volumes. Additionally, several users shared their experiences and hotel recommendations near the visa office.

It’s no longer same day. Minimum I would say is 2 days based on my experience last week.

@Zep *****
Did you get the DTV

@Andi **********
yes I did but mine was abit complicated due to some agreement with my country and Thailand. So mine took 4 days.

Yeah you don't want anything to link your work to Thailand in any way. All other connections with Thailand such as family, spouses, a residence and past travel, past work/business or residence in the country are fine. Just no current business or work ties (if you have any they should not be mentioned).

my work doesn’t involve Thailand. The reason my application was delayed because of the visa free agreement between Thailand and my country.

Singapore? Still, Thailand has many reciprocal visa free agreements with other countries but they always have a time limit and for any purpose other than tourism/sightseeing/meeting relatives or friends and perhaps business meetings/conferences, a visa is required.

Thus that reasoning for the delay sounds a bit strange.

well that’s the reason they gave me. Basically they are unsure whether to charge me or not.

Aha I see.

I had my DTV approved in Taipei this afternoon, after applying this morning. Still a same-day service as far as I’m aware…

@Tom *******
Great to hear, how many months statements did you give?
Tom ********
@Andi **********
3 months - website only points to 1 month/most recent statement though, so I just played it save given all the different embassies criteria etc!

@Tom *******
did u have 500k + balance in all 3 statements or just the closing balance on the day was more than 500 K?
Paul *******
@Tom *******
Nothing mentioned on their website about needing to have 1 month. Most recent statement/balance sheet mentioned in an email, but not present on the DTV page of their website.

Smart move, better to be safe than sorry.

Don’t underestimate hotel prices in Taipei! 😫 I was there last week for an unrelated matter and the Hyatt was $370/night after tax.

@Seb *******
The Hyatt is expensive in most places. You can save money by going up to the hills but that's like a 40-50km drive from downtown.

They also told me via email same day but last Friday someone posted they were told it took 2 days. I think the number of applications has increased there no doubt due to the original same day approval. Park Taipei hotel is a 20 min easy walk, Mitsui Garden Hotel 15 mins walk.
