I fully unbderstand your point, but the problem is, that the Thai Immigration consists of civil servants with all the shortcoming of such a position, and that they would have to find a way around regulations, that are meant for the majority. IF an immigration officer gives you such a visa, he might be liable to malfeasance charges, which is the least thing any of them wants to encounter.
Have you ever thought about alternatives to Thailand, e.g. Vietnam or Cambodia or any other Southeast Asian country, where the visa regulations are not so strict?
