mate there are so many Thai ladies here easy to sort them out if you stick to your guns. If she doesn't agree to your terms move on dot come. If it starts with drama and costing you all the time with nothing from their side except pussy how do you think it's going to end. Why do you think there are so many horror stories because it is not her fault it's the stupid farang for getting in that situation.

The green book needs to be in the riders name. You must buy insurance at the border crossing along with all the other immagration papers have plenty of passport type photos with you saves time and cost. The same with Laos and cambodia. Vietnam is harder l think they require you to pay a guide also been awhile though. Don't worry about the police they leave you alone just ride responsible wear a helmet don't attract attention to yourself and your fine. Other option is hire a bike as you go scooters are cheap your only taking a pcx they cost m

Nothing to hire and saves drama all bike paperwork is the responsibility of the hire company

that's not true. If you want to be a stupid farang go ahead. But you should know your legal rights in Thailand. The problem is farang listen to the lady and her family which is wrong. Village marriage is not legally binding so you have no claim. Cars motorcycle should be in your name,keep receipts and bank statements only pay using bank transfers for any buildings or renovation even if you pay for land. But marry in registry first. That's gives you legal rights and take her to court. The judge will look at your evidence. Get a yellow book with you house address and a pink Thai id card with you house address. All proof you live there and have paid significant costs. Problem is stupid farang just walk away and it sets a precedent all Thais think that's what farang do but it stuffs it up for others. Know your rights and don't commit to anything if you are not legally protected. Minimum is unfastruct for 99 years that gives you rights until you die. You can even rent out the house then and rent comes to you she cannot remove you.

correct and if you have an accident with them forget about any claim from them you have to cover yourself. They will initially try to get you to cover them but if you ask for there registration paper they will back off and the police will support you

your obviously confused. There is a difference between insurance cc and Thai licence. I know what l said you read it again. The post was questioning if they would be insured. The slaing if it has its registration covered correctly then it is roadworthy. This doesn't mean their insurance covers it in an accident for full comprehensive cover

@Jay ******
I am talking about the insurance company that you insure with that's the issue if you have an accident . Thai motorbike licence is not relevant to this as it is any motorcycle there is no cc restrictions.

@Carrie *****
usually your insurance will state motorcycle to a specific cc like 125 cc something like that. This is usually not followed by some people as they want to ride bigger bikes and insurance won't cover them when the police make a report

If you marry a Thai in a registry office not a village wedding you are entitled to 50% of the value of the property that includes land and house. Most farangs don't know or pursue the legal route after break up because they don't know the law or are convinced by the Thai woman that they have no claim. Also don't move out of the house if you split you have the right ti stay there. Keep all the receipts to prove it was your money to build or renovate. If you break up get a lawyer you will get a happy ending she will not have a leg to stand on
