first timer might not be asked, but for second time or back to back they will ask Bank Account THB 200.000.-. If you need a yearly without proof of funds go to Savannakhet.

Vientiane is very strict on these days. If you just need to overcome the period November to Jan than do one - 2 border run, each extend, so for month.

do another. your second border run, than a 30days extension. In the meantime things have settled down and you can go to another place to get one more TV, next year 2 border run with extensio, so you baiscally covered up to beginn of may.

People following the various forums have noted that the closest Royal Thai Embassy Vientiane and Royal Thai Consulate Savannakhet have become very strict. This is not an Official Government Policy, this the the sole decsion by the people in charge of these places, so a Tourist Visa in KL, Penang, Yangon, Hanoi or HCMC is still OK.
