TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is reported that the process for obtaining an ED visa in Savannakhet, Laos has become stricter. Documentation is scrutinized more closely, with rules stating that applicants can only study one level of Thai language at a time. Additionally, if officials suspect that a person is merely extending their stay in Thailand through this visa, they may deny the application. There have also been reports of additional restrictions for those who have previously extended their tourist visa.

they are tightening up, and look at the documents from your school (to make sure you're not just using one of those b/s visa mill schools) AND they are looking at your entry history to make sure you didn't live here a zillion years on 30 day visa exempt entries and tourist visas before choosing an ED visa to continue staying BUT if you are really enrolled in a MOE approved school AND you didn't live here a long time before you enrolled in the school you will get an ED visa from a thai consulate like normal
i messaged them regarding a briefing that Thai visa have got hold of from the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok. Other than the briefing, they couldn't or maybe wouldn't say anymore.
They will prolly advise, no visas anymore, Go home.

I would be concerned regarding whats coming worldwide in September regarding Thai Embassys and visas. My contact says something is changing but as yet, they cannot say what.

BTW, the paperwork were from a good school, not a visa mill.
Shit so after you have been there more cant you apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa for 90 days?

You can have 3 visa exempt each 30 days from border (Russians unlimited) and they will give an ED. But they had a Tourist Visa with an extension, theyu were refused. If they had not extended that TR they would have been granted. Total madness.
yes, today 2 Russians, new passports, just one Tourist Visa with one extension. Denied, after submitting two times.Monday and Tuesday, today afternoon they were told NO.

What is more strict? The documents get checked, you can only study 1 level of Thai language at the time. And if the staff suspect you from living inside Thailand and now just want to use this visa to extend your stay, they could deny you the visa.
If you are getting a visa for the SECOND time where you are studying "advanced" on the paperwork they might chat with you to see if you're really studying thai or just using an ED visa to stay in thailand. SO I'd say IF you have an ED visa for studying thai you better try to learn thai too ;)
No, you get a Single Entry Non Immigrant ED Visa and at the moment you like to visit Thailand and hand over your passport the Immigration Officer will stamp it "USED' and with that stamp the visa became invalid. You have to keep it in passport as a memory.
