What would happen if I failed to give them the appropriate proof of accommodation/funds/onward travel?

Get 7 days stay in Thailand?(with red stamp in passport?)-Get detained? Or have to just wander back into Laos and fly/travel to Vietnam, then back to the UK.

I haven't used visa exempt this year and I'm from the UK. So you think I'd get 30 days for free coming back in to Thailand?

I guess so. And if that happened I could re-enter Thailand at the border for 7 days? Not that it would look good in my passport.
