yes i think by now everyone in the tourism industry has accepted the reality that +99% of the international tourism industry is not coming back for the foreseeable future. obviously, the government should focus on ramping up quarantine capacity as quickly as possible but whether we get 0% or 0.5% doesn't make much difference to most tourism businesses. they either need to adapt to the local market or close unfortunately.
that's long gone. nobody in the thai tourism industry is expecting a meaningful number of visitors in the next year or so. even if the government manages to triple the quarantine capacity by december (highly unlikely) that would still limit the number of arrivals to less than 1% of a pre-covid december.
China released all the data on the genome in January. Most countries in the East had the virus under control by April with negligible death-count. It's now October and Western governments only have themselves (and to an extent the behaviour of their citizens) to blame for the virus still being a thing there and what has happened over the last nine months.
I assume this professor has invented a new testing technique that can detect those cases. That must be the new discovery he is desperate to get out to the media.
Post the link to the research study you did to come to these conclusions and one of the immigration officers who lurk in this group will pass it on to their superiors. You will probably get a medal from the prime minister.
It is strange that retiree expats stuck outside of the kingdom can't apply for certificates of entry to return. I wonder how many people are in this situation and whether Thai immigration knows they exist.
