Can I use a Thai transit visa for multiple entries and does the 30-day stay reset with each exit and re-entry?

Does anyone have experience of using a transit visa for multiple entries? According to the Royal Thai Embassy, London website - [members only] - a transit visa is valid for 3 months and permits 30 days stay, extendable by 30 days, so it seems good for people who like to travel around but don't meet the requirements for a multi-entry tourist visa.

Does anyone know if the 'Travel booking confirmation' needs to include flights in and out to cover all entries (e.g. maximum 4) or is it possible to apply with just 1 flight and out, and then come and go as you please during the 30 days (and the 30 days extension)? and does the 30 days reset each time you fly out and in?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the use of a Thai transit visa, specifically whether it allows for multiple entries and how the 30-day stay period functions. According to the Royal Thai Embassy, a transit visa is valid for 3 months and allows a stay of 30 days, which can be extended. However, one commenter notes that a transit visa is single entry, meaning it cannot be used for multiple entries once you have entered Thailand. Another participant questions the need for this type of visa when Visa Exempt entries are available for free, which allow for the same duration.

Why would you pay for a Visa which is "valid for 3 months and permits 30 days stay, extendable by 30 days" which is what you can get with Visa Exempt entries for free?

The passport control officers don't seem to like seeing many visa exempt stamps - after a period when I had been in and out on a regular basis with visa exempt stamps (but not actually in Thailand too much) I got pulled aside and advised to apply for visas, rather than entering visa exempt, if I want to continue visiting frequently.

It all depends how long you stay, flitting in on Visa Exempt and out again is fine as long as you're not spending more time in Thailand than outside i.e. appear to be living or working there

A transit visa is single entry. Once you enter, it's used and no longer valid for another entry.

that's what I previously thought too but the website linked suggests it allows 4 entries

that website also says you print out a form and submit it which hasn't been the case for over a year since evisa was introduced.
