There are many retirees from UK in Thailand and elsewhere who get their pensions paid into a local offshore account - for many of them being non resident they cannot keep a bank account in the UK so they have no choice - stop peddling nonsense
there used to be a deminimus of B1500 below which no duty or vat, this has been removed to vat will apply as well as duties from countries where there are not free trade agreements - then the carrier will charge for collecting the VAT as an import declaration will now be required - important to check with supplier before you buy
the Thai Govt are removing the deminimus which used to be B1500 so VAT will now be applied plus the handling fee by the carrier for collecting it which could be as much as the VAT - no duties from China though
they spread a little happiness around with immigration officers - if you take this route you will be trapped, it’s very difficult to legitimize you visa in subsequent years as immig know your previous application was dodgy - you would have to leave country and start all over
Visa has no relation to import of effects. If you really must bring effects, talk to a removal company like Stuttafords, and get a quote, based on what you are importing customs will assess duties payable on arrival. We brought a 20 foot container, and paid around $500 in import taxes…….as mentioned it may be better to replace stuff here.
Very good, although currently you can’t access from two devices, I.e phone and IPad a minor inconvenience otherwise it’s excellent - over there from BKK bank which was dire
If you don’t meet the financial requirements you have no choice other than to use an agent who will pay a bribe to immigration to get your application approved you will then be beholden to the agent every year
